Muscat, Oman: A Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Muscat International Airport (MCT) became the centre of an unusual aviation exchange on Sunday when the aircraft’s flight crew and Muscat air traffic control (ATC) disagreed over a descent clearance during the approach phase. The Airbus A321neo was being vectored for an Instrument Landing System (ILS) approach when Muscat ATC instructed the crew to descend to 2,200 feet, identified by controllers as a minimum safe altitude suitable for sequencing and terrain clearance in that segment of airspace. The pilot responded that the airline’s company-approved navigation charts did not list 2,200 feet as an acceptable minimum altitude in that sector and that his flight crew could only descend to 3,600 feet in accordance with their procedures and published minimum vectoring altitudes (MVAs). In recorded ATC transmissions that have circulated within aviation safety analysis communities, the exchange became tense as the pilot repeatedly stated he was “unable to accept vectors” below the charted limit. The controller, while asserting that “our minimum safe altitude is 2,200,” urged the flight crew to comply with ATC instructions. Despite the firm tone in radio exchanges, both sides maintained professional conduct, and the disagreement did not escalate into an unsafe operational situation. The pilot proposed alternative vectors that would allow the aircraft to remain at or above 3,600 feet while aligning for the approach sequence. Minimum vectoring altitude and minimum safe altitude figures are critical safety parameters that provide required terrain and obstacle clearance during radar vectoring. Air traffic controllers and pilots derive these altitudes from different sources controllers from their local surveillance and obstacle databases, and pilots from company-approved charts often supplied by third-party aeronautical data providers. International aviation regulations and standard operating procedures emphasise that the pilot in command retains ultimate responsibility for the safety of the aircraft. When an ATC-issued clearance conflicts with a pilot’s verified safety limits, the flight crew may lawfully decline and request clarification or alternative instructions. The Turkish Airlines aircraft remained at or above the altitude the crew could accept until it was safely established on the final approach. There were no reported safety incidents, and the flight landed without further operational disruption.

JetBlue Flight B6-1112, operated by an Airbus A320, was climbing after departure from Curaçao, a Dutch Caribbean island near the Venezuelan coast, when the flight crew reported a U.S. Air Force air-to-air refueling tanker crossing directly into their flight path at a similar altitude. Air traffic control recordings indicate the commercial jet halted its ascent to maintain separation. In audio released by air traffic control, the JetBlue pilot is heard saying, “We almost had a midair collision up here,” adding that the tanker aircraft had “passed directly in our flight path … they don’t have their transponder turned on.” The absence of a functioning transponder meant the military aircraft was not visible on civilian radar systems, complicating the air traffic controller’s ability to track it. The flight crew followed established safety procedures to avoid the tanker and later reported the incident to federal aviation authorities. JetBlue spokesperson Derek Dombrowski confirmed the airline had “reported this incident to federal authorities and will participate in any investigation,” praising the crew for their prompt action. São Paulo, Brazil: On 10 November, 2025 Eve Air Mobility and Revo have announced the first real-world operational deployment of Eve’s Vector Urban Air Traffic Management (UATM) software during the 2025 São Paulo Grand Prix, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of urban air mobility infrastructure. The deployment will take place at Autódromo José Carlos Pace (Interlagos), where Revo will use Vector to manage high-volume helicopter operations during the Formula 1 race weekend. The software will support real-time coordination of aircraft movements, ground operations and vertiport activity in one of the most demanding urban aviation environments in Brazil. Vector’s Vertiport and Ground Operations module will be used for the live operation. The module enables scheduling, traffic optimization, aircraft sequencing and digital coordination between air and ground teams. According to Eve Air Mobility, this marks the first time the software will operate outside a test or simulated environment. Eve stated that the deployment represents a critical step in validating Vector’s readiness for large-scale commercial use. The company also confirmed that a Fleet Operations module, designed to support both helicopters and future eVTOL aircraft, is scheduled for release in 2026. The deployment builds on the long-term partnership between Eve and Revo. In June 2025, Revo signed a framework agreement with Eve covering up to 50 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, positioning São Paulo as one of the first cities expected to see large-scale commercial eVTOL services. Boston, United States: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating a close-call incident at Boston Logan International Airport on Thursday afternoon, when a Delta Air Lines widebody jet and a Cape Air commuter aircraft came dangerously close to each other on intersecting runways. According to FAA officials, Delta Flight 263 an Airbus A330-900neo operating from Paris Charles de Gaulle to New York-JFK had been diverted to Boston due to weather in the New York area. The aircraft, carrying 284 passengers and 11 crew, was on approach to Logan around 4:15 p.m. ET when air traffic control ordered the pilots to perform a go-around to maintain safe separation from Cape Air Flight 548, which had been cleared for takeoff on an intersecting runway. Audio recordings from LiveATC.net, cited by multiple outlets, captured the tense exchange between the flight crews. As the Delta A330 climbed away from the runway, one of its pilots radioed, “That was close.” Moments later, a Cape Air pilot could be heard responding, “Yeah, man, not cool.” While no collision occurred and both flights landed safely, aviation experts said the proximity of the two aircraft estimated at less than half a mile at one point warranted investigation. “Even when vertical and horizontal separation remains within limits, intersecting-runway operations always carry elevated risk,” one aviation analyst told WCVB Boston. The FAA confirmed that controllers instructed the Delta crew to abort landing to “ensure safe separation” after the Cape Air flight was cleared for departure. The agency has since opened a formal investigation into the event to determine whether procedural, human, or environmental factors contributed. Both airlines confirmed that their pilots followed ATC instructions. “Delta Air Lines is cooperating fully with the FAA’s review,” the company said in a statement, adding that safety remains its top priority. Cape Air also noted that its pilots “acted in accordance with clearance and protocol.” The incident comes amid rising operational pressure on U.S. air traffic controllers, who have faced long shifts and reduced staffing levels exacerbated by the ongoing federal government shutdown. Nearly 13,000 air traffic controllers working without pay and prompting hundreds to take on second jobs to cover essential expenses.
