Authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew survived the incident without serious injury. The single-engine turboprop, registered PK-SNS, had departed from Douw Aturure Airport (NBX) bound for Kaimana Airport (KNG) shortly after noon local time. Shortly after takeoff, the flight crew detected a technical issue with the aircraft’s engine, prompting the captain to attempt a return to the departure airport. With engine thrust diminishing, the pilot executed an emergency landing at the Logpond Kaladiri area, a shallow coastal waterway adjacent to the airport. Officials from the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Nabire and local police were on scene to assist with evacuation efforts. All 13 occupants comprising 11 passengers and 2 crew members were safely evacuated and accounted for. Many were initially taken to RSUD Nabire hospital for evaluation and later released. Nabire Police Chief AKBP Samuel Tatiratu confirmed there were no fatalities or serious injuries. “All passengers and crew are reported to be in good condition and safe,” Tatiratu said. Preliminary information from the Ministry of Transportation’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation indicates the incident was triggered by engine malfunction shortly after takeoff, prompting a Return-to-Base decision, followed by an emergency landing when thrust power continued to degrade. The aircraft belongs to PT Smart Cakrawala Aviation and operates scheduled regional services in eastern Indonesia. Authorities have issued formal restrictions that are expected to affect hundreds of scheduled flights between January 21 and January 26. Under Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and associated civil aviation agencies, the airspace over Delhi will be closed to commercial departures and arrivals daily between 10:20 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. (IST) for a duration of 2 hours 25 minutes. The restrictions are designed to facilitate military flypast rehearsals, parade drills and associated aerial security procedures ahead of the Republic Day parade. Kathmandu, Nepal: A Buddha Air passenger aircraft skidded off the runway while landing at Bhadrapur Airport on Friday night, in an incident that raised safety concerns but ended with all onboard safe and uninjured, officials and airline sources said. The turboprop aircraft, an ATR 72-500 registered as 9N-AMF, operating as Flight U4-901 from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, overshot the end of the runway late Friday evening and came to rest on grassy ground beyond the runway surface. According to flight and official data, the aircraft landed at approximately 21:06 local time (about 9:06 pm) and overran the runway by an estimated 165–200 metres before stopping near a creek beyond the runway’s end. All 51 passengers and four crew members aboard the flight were evacuated safely with no reported injuries, Nepal Police and airport authorities confirmed.
