Marília, Brazil: Two pilots were killed and a third occupant was seriously injured after a twin-engine aircraft crashed onto a football field shortly after takeoff from Marília Airport in the Brazilian state of São Paulo on Wednesday, June 10, authorities said. The accident involved a Beechcraft Baron 58, registration PT-MDB, which departed Frank Miloye Milenkovich Airport in Marília at approximately 11:13 a.m. local time. French Gendarmerie Helicopter Crashes Near Orléans; One Officer Killed, Two Injured

La Romana, Dominican Republic: Two crew members were killed after a private jet crashed while attempting an emergency landing at La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic on June 7, authorities confirmed. According to the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), the aircraft involved was a U.S.-registered Gulfstream G200 executive jet operating a flight from La Romana to Austin, Texas. The aircraft was carrying only the pilot and co-pilot, with no passengers onboard. Preliminary information indicates the flight experienced a technical problem shortly after departure and requested to return to La Romana International Airport. Reports from local authorities suggest the crew declared an emergency while the aircraft was approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of the airport before turning back toward the airfield. Private Jet Crash During Emergency Landing Attempt Kills Pilot And Co-Pilot Onboard

Responders from Sunland Park Fire Department, Doña Ana Fire Rescue and other emergency agencies arrived at the scene and located three injured occupants. Officials said three occupants aboard the aircraft survived but sustained serious injuries. The 2 occupants were airlifted to area hospitals for medical treatment, while the third was taken by ambulance. Authorities have not released the identities of those onboard. No fatalities were reported. Sunland Park Fire Chief Daniel Medrano said first responders were notified of a small Cessna-style aircraft crash at the airport. No injuries were reported among people on the ground, and there were no immediate reports of significant damage to airport infrastructure. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear. Three People Seriously Injured After Small Aircraft Crashes At Santa Teresa Jetport

Toronto, Canada: A former Air Canada captain has been charged with multiple fraud-related offences after Canadian authorities alleged that he operated more than 900 commercial flights over nearly 17 years without holding the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) required to command large passenger aircraft. Peel Regional Police said Geoffrey Wall, 59, of Barrie, Ontario, was arrested on June 1 following a months-long fraud and forgery investigation known as Project Icarus. Investigators allege Wall served as an Air Canada captain between 2009 and 2025 while using fraudulent licensing documents to misrepresent his qualifications to both the airline and federal regulators. According to police, Wall held a valid Commercial Pilot Licence but did not possess the ATPL required under Canadian aviation regulations for airline captains. Authorities allege he commanded more than 900 domestic and international flights during that period, carrying tens of thousands of passengers aboard Air Canada's Boeing 767, 777 and 787 aircraft while earning approximately CAD 2.9 million in salary. Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich said investigators believe Wall had been "misrepresenting himself and his credentials" to his employer and regulators for years using fraudulent licensing documents. He compared the situation to "a doctor that is licensed to practice family medicine but is doing brain surgery in their office." Former Air Canada Captain Accused Of 17-Year Licence Fraud After Flying 900+ Flights

Belgrade, Serbia: Low-cost carrier Wizz Air has launched an unprecedented public attack on Serbian authorities, alleging that newly adopted aviation regulations are designed to force the airline to shut down its Belgrade base from November 2026, a move it says would violate European aviation agreements, reduce competition, and threaten jobs. In a strongly worded statement released on June 3, Wizz Air claimed that Serbian authorities are attempting to introduce measures that would effectively prevent foreign airlines from maintaining base operations in the country unless they are Serbian operators. The airline argues that the changes amount to a protectionist policy intended to shield state-backed national carrier Air Serbia from competition. According to Wizz Air, the proposed measures would make it impossible for the airline to continue operating its Belgrade base under its current business model despite having maintained a presence in Serbia for more than 15 years. The airline said it has invested hundreds of millions of euros in Serbia since launching operations in 2010 and has carried more than 14 million passengers to and from the country. Wizz Air currently operates 29 routes linking Belgrade with 26 destinations across 10 countries and maintains one of the largest low-cost carrier networks in the Serbian market. Wizz Air warned that the closure of its Belgrade base would result in the loss of more than 150 direct jobs while also impacting thousands of positions indirectly supported through tourism, hospitality, airport services, and related sectors. The carrier further argued that Serbian travelers would face fewer direct flight options, reduced connectivity, diminished consumer choice, and potentially higher airfares if the measures are implemented. "The measures they plan to use against Wizz Air are illegal," the airline's Chief Corporate Officer, Owain Jones, said in comments accompanying the statement. He accused Serbian authorities of engaging in discriminatory practices and called for the preservation of fair and transparent market conditions for all airlines operating in the country. Central to Wizz Air's argument is the European Common Aviation Area (ECAA) Agreement, often referred to as the "Open Skies" framework, which provides participating countries and airlines with market access rights and seeks to ensure fair competition across European aviation markets. The Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia has stated that the newly adopted rulebook does not revoke any airline's traffic rights and applies equally to all carriers operating in the country. Officials maintain that the changes are regulatory in nature and do not prevent foreign airlines from serving Serbia or opening new routes in accordance with existing international agreements. Despite those assurances, questions remain over whether foreign carriers will be able to continue maintaining aircraft bases in Serbia under the revised framework. Wizz Air Threatens Belgrade Base Exit, Accuses Serbia Of Protecting Air Serbia

New Delhi, India: Low-cost carrier SpiceJet is facing renewed legal pressure after France-based aircraft engine lessor Sunbird France 02 SAS approached the Delhi High Court to enforce a UK Commercial Court judgment directing the airline to pay nearly $8 million in unpaid lease rentals and maintenance dues related to three aircraft engines. The enforcement proceedings mark the latest chapter in a long-running dispute between the airline and the French lessor, adding to SpiceJet’s growing list of legal and financial challenges. According to court filings, the dispute concerns three aircraft engines leased to SpiceJet in 2019. Sunbird alleges that the airline failed to meet its payment obligations under the lease agreements, resulting in substantial outstanding lease rentals and maintenance accruals. The unpaid maintenance charges reportedly date back to November 2020, while unpaid lease rentals accumulated from January 2022 onward. After issuing default notices in July 2022, the lessor eventually repossessed the engines in stages, taking back two engines in December 2022 and the third in July 2023. Following the repossession, Sunbird initiated legal proceedings before the Commercial Court of England and Wales, seeking recovery of unpaid rent and maintenance charges linked to the three engines. On March 13, 2026, the London Commercial Court granted summary judgment in favour of Sunbird France 02 SAS, awarding approximately US$7.96 million. The court concluded that SpiceJet had no realistic prospect of successfully defending the claim. The UK court also recorded that although SpiceJet had initially appointed solicitors in the matter and had been properly served, it ultimately did not file a defence or participate in the proceedings. As a result, the court proceeded to issue judgment without a full trial. With the UK ruling remaining unpaid, Sunbird moved the Delhi High Court seeking recognition and enforcement of the foreign decree in India. The matter came up before Justice Vikas Mahajan, where Sunbird argued that the English judgment satisfies the requirements for enforcement under Indian law and should be executed against the airline's assets. The lessor sought urgent interim protection from the court, expressing concerns over SpiceJet’s financial condition and the possibility that recovery efforts could become more difficult if the airline’s financial position deteriorates further. During the proceedings, Sunbird's legal team pointed to multiple insolvency-related proceedings pending against SpiceJet before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The lessor argued that disclosure of assets was necessary to safeguard its interests while enforcement proceedings continue. The Delhi High Court subsequently directed SpiceJet to disclose its assets through an affidavit to be submitted in a sealed cover. The court granted the lessor liberty to seek urgent relief during the court vacation if circumstances warrant such action. Sunbird also referred to reports concerning advance salary payments allegedly made to SpiceJet Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh while lease-related liabilities remained outstanding. The lessor cited these reports while arguing for interim protection measures. SpiceJet opposed immediate coercive measures and resisted demands for asset disclosure at the initial stage. Senior counsel representing the airline argued that SpiceJet remains a functioning airline and should not be treated as an entity attempting to evade its obligations. The airline informed the court that it continues to operate approximately 135 flights daily, carries around 21,000 passengers each day and employs nearly 6,400 personnel. SpiceJet maintained that any aggressive recovery action could adversely affect operations and stakeholders. The carrier also raised objections relating to the maintainability and enforceability of the execution proceedings, contending that those issues should be decided before any substantive interim relief is granted. The latest dispute emerges against the backdrop of SpiceJet's broader financial difficulties. The airline has spent the past several years dealing with the effects of the Boeing 737 MAX grounding, disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, increased competition in the domestic market and multiple legal battles involving aircraft lessors, creditors and other claimants. The Sunbird matter is not the first legal confrontation between the parties. Court records show that disputes involving Sunbird France and affiliated lessor Team France had been ongoing since at least 2023 over alleged defaults under engine lease agreements. Earlier proceedings before Indian courts involved payment schedules, settlement discussions, repossession disputes and court-monitored arrangements intended to allow SpiceJet to continue operating leased engines while resolving outstanding dues. Despite those efforts, the dispute eventually escalated into proceedings before the UK Commercial Court, culminating in the March 2026 judgment now being pursued in India. As the case enters the enforcement stage, the Delhi High Court is expected to examine whether the foreign judgment satisfies statutory requirements for execution in India and whether any interim protective measures are warranted pending final adjudication.
