New York, United States: A low-speed collision between two Delta Connection regional jets disrupted operations at LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday night, injuring a flight attendant and damaging both aircraft. The incident occurred when Delta Connection Flight 5155, operated by Endeavor Air and scheduled to depart for Roanoke, Virginia, struck the nose of Delta Connection Flight 5047 arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina. The right wing of the departing CRJ-900 clipped the cockpit section of the arriving aircraft. The collision shattered cockpit windows and damaged the forward fuselage of the Charlotte flight. A cabin crew member on board sustained a knee injury and was taken to a local hospital. No passengers were hurt. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed that airport operations continued without major disruption. The Endeavor flight 5155 was carrying 32 people including 28 passengers and 4 crewmembers whereas Endeavor flight 5047 was carrying 61 people in which 57 were passengers and 4 crewmembers, all passengers were safely deplaned and transported by bus to the terminal, where Delta arranged hotel accommodation, meals, and rebooking support. The NTSB has dispatched a team of ten investigators and recovered flight recorders from both aircraft for analysis. The FAA stated that Flight 5155 had been instructed to hold position before the collision, but the exact circumstances remain under investigation. The focus will include taxiway intersection layout, air traffic control instructions, and pilot decision-making. Flights resumed on schedule Thursday morning, with no further delays.

London, United Kingdom: A British Airways flight bound for the Caribbean was forced to make an unexpected U-turn over the Atlantic on Tuesday night, returning to London after nearly eight hours in the air. Flight BA2157 departed London Gatwick on September 30, scheduled to land in Antigua before continuing on to St. Kitts and Nevis. Midway through its journey, however, the aircraft turned back towards the UK. Data from flight tracking platforms, like Flightradar24, confirmed the unusual path, which saw the Boeing jet return to its point of departure instead of completing the transatlantic crossing due to pressure warning light on 2 tyres, the aircraft landed back at London Gatwick Airport at 16:22 BST, almost 8 hours after takeoff. Passengers on board were said to have remained calm during the diversion, and no medical emergencies have been reported so far. British Airways has not yet provided an explanation, and UK aviation regulators have also remained silent. Aviation observers have speculated about possible technical or operational reasons, but no official confirmation has been given. On September 28, 2025, a British Airways flight experienced an unexpected incident upon landing at Grenada's Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA). The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200 (registration G-VIIU), arrived from Saint Lucia but came to a complete stop on the runway after landing. There were no signs of distress during the approach, and the aircraft landed normally. However, it failed to move under its own power, prompting airport staff to tow it to a safer area. Passengers remained on board during the towing process, and no injuries or emergency procedures were reported

New Delhi, India: The GST Council on September 3, 2025, announced a revised two-tier GST structure, set to come into effect from September 22, 2025, impacting air travel and luxury services. Under the new system, most goods and services will attract either 5% or 18% GST, while select luxury and “sin” items will be taxed at 40%. For air travel, the changes are as follows: Economy class tickets: Continue at 5% GST, unchanged from previous rates. Premium economy, business, and first-class tickets: Previously taxed at 12% GST, these fares will now attract 18% GST, increasing the cost for premium travelers. For example, a business class ticket booked on September 4, 2025, for travel on September 24, 2025, will attract the old 12% GST, while the same ticket booked on or after September 23, 2025, will incur the new 18% GST. The Finance Ministry clarified under Section 14(a)(i) of the CGST Act, 2017, that GST liability is determined by the time of supply: If goods or services are supplied before the rate change but invoiced afterward, GST depends on the time of supply. Payment after the rate change: time of supply is the earlier of the invoice date or payment receipt date. Payment before the rate change: time of supply is the payment receipt date. The GST on private jets, helicopters, yachts, and pleasure vessels has increased from an effective 31% (28% GST + 3% cess) to a flat 40% GST, eliminating the cess and raising costs for high-end travelers and operators. According to PTI, The International Air Transport Association (IATA) expressed disappointment over the increase in GST on non-economy travel. “Aviation has significant potential to boost India’s economy, both through airline growth and improved connectivity. It is therefore disappointing to increase GST on non-economy travel without clear justification,” said Sheldon Hee, IATA’s Asia Pacific regional vice-president. He added that the tax on premium travel has more than doubled since 2017 and warned that such increases could dampen demand and affect airline profitability, especially since premium travelers often determine a route’s viability. Airlines are expected to pass on the higher GST to passengers, making premium tickets more expensive. Meanwhile, economy travelers benefit from stable fares, with GST unchanged at 5%. The revised structure aims to simplify taxation while ensuring that revenue from luxury and non-essential services contributes to public finances.
