Amsterdam, Netherlands: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has reached a new collective labour agreement (CLA) with its cabin crew unions, bringing an end to months of negotiations and restoring labour stability at the Dutch flag carrier. The agreement was concluded with unions VNC, FNV Cabine and De Unie and has been approved by union members. The two-year agreement runs from 1 March 2025 through 28 February 2027 and applies retroactively. KLM said the deal balances improvements in purchasing power for cabin crew with the airline’s ongoing focus on cost control and operational reliability. Under the agreement, cabin crew will receive a phased salary increase totalling approximately 3.25 percent over the contract period. In addition, KLM will pay a one-time net allowance of €750 to full-time cabin crew in January 2026 as compensation for inflationary pressures. Beyond pay, the agreement includes updates to working arrangements and long-term employability measures. These include continued access to the 80-90-100 scheme, which allows older cabin crew to work reduced hours while maintaining pension accrual, as well as provisions for temporary early retirement (RVU). The CLA also introduces clearer rules on internal mobility, allowing cabin crew who move to ground positions to return to flying roles under defined conditions. KLM said the agreement provides clarity and predictability for both employees and operations, particularly after a period marked by industrial actions and staffing pressures at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Labour stability among cabin crew is seen as critical for maintaining schedule reliability across KLM’s short-haul and long-haul networks. The deal follows earlier labour agreements reached with other employee groups at KLM, reflecting a broader effort by the airline to normalise labour relations while navigating higher costs, supply-chain pressures and capacity constraints affecting the global aviation industry. Union representatives described the agreement as a compromise, noting that while it does not meet all earlier demands, it secures wage growth, safeguards employment conditions and preserves important flexibility schemes for cabin crew.

The flight departed Frankfurt at 21:56 CEST on September 25, 2025, aiming for a 12-hour journey to Singapore. After turning back, the Airbus A380 landed safely at 06:51 CEST on September 26 after 8 hours and 55 minutes in the air. The aircraft taxied to a remote stand at Frankfurt Airport, and passengers disembarked without incident. Singapore Airlines has confirmed the diversion but has not disclosed specific details about the nature of the mechanical issue or provided a new departure time for affected passengers. The incident has caused significant disruption at Frankfurt Airport, one of Europe's busiest hubs, as travelers work to rebook connecting flights. Poland, Europe: Poland’s Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) , one of Europe’s most ambitious transport infrastructure projects, has reached a major milestone with the official approval of its passenger terminal design, moving the €30–32.5 billion development closer to construction. The government-backed mega hub is projected to handle up to 44 million passengers annually by 2032, with integrated high-speed rail links designed to transform regional and international connectivity. According to the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny company, the terminal and underground railway station design, developed by Foster + Partners and Buro Happold, has been formally handed over and accepted. The documentation is now being prepared for submission to regional authorities to obtain building permits. The facility will span approximately 450,000 square meters, making it nearly three times the size of Warsaw Chopin Airport’s terminal. The three-level terminal layout will place check-in facilities and Schengen departures on the top level (+2), non-Schengen arrivals and transfer areas on level +1, and baggage reclaim alongside bus connections on the ground level. Initial capacity is set at 34 million passengers per year, with expansion potential to 44 million. The design also includes up to 67 aircraft stands, 140 check-in desks, and the ability to process up to 11,000 passengers per hour. The construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, starting with deep foundation works. The underground railway station and connecting tunnel are targeted for completion by 2029, with the entire airport planned to become operational by the end of 2032. A general contractor tender is currently open, while other tenders including for the baggage handling system are already in progress. The company anticipates awarding contracts worth nearly PLN 30 billion by the end of 2025. With an estimated total cost exceeding €30 billion, CPK is positioned as a direct competitor to hubs such as London Heathrow and Dubai International. The mega hub will integrate aviation, high-speed rail, and road networks, with almost 2,000 kilometers of new high-speed lines planned. These will link major Polish cities and connect to the EU’s TEN-T corridors, including the strategic Rail Baltica route to the Baltic states. The Polish government under Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed in June 2024 that the CPK project would proceed, albeit with adjustments to ensure it complements rather than entirely replaces existing airports in Warsaw. Speaking to Reuters, Tusk said the plan reflects both the scale of Poland’s economic ambitions and the need for integrated transport solutions.
