The resolution, adopted during the 46th session of the Supreme Council in Bahrain, marks a strategic milestone for Gulf-wide aviation cooperation. According to CAA, this move underscores the GCC states’ commitment to harmonize their civil aviation systems in line with evolving global regulatory and technological standards. The unified authority aims to enhance safety, security, sustainability, and overall competitiveness across the region’s aviation sector. In a statement, CAA President Naif bin Ali Al‑Abri said the establishment of the GCC-wide authority represents a continuation of long‑standing Gulf cooperation. He described it as the beginning of a new era of joint action and reaffirmed Oman’s support for deeper integration especially through regulatory modernization, aviation resource development, and unified representation in international aviation forums. The GCC Civil Aviation Authority will work to unify civil aviation regulations and policies among member states, aligning national legislation under a common Gulf framework capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in global aviation. It will also promote cooperation on infrastructure development, including airports and navigation systems, support training and capacity‑building of aviation personnel, and encourage investment. Beyond regulatory and infrastructure harmonization, the authority will coordinate efforts on safety and security standards, environmental sustainability, passenger rights and travel procedures all with the goal of elevating service quality and strengthening the Gulf’s competitiveness in international civil aviation. The CAA highlighted that GCC‑CAA will not only unify regulatory frameworks but will also enhance passenger experience, elevate safety and security standards, and encourage environmentally sustainable practices in line with global civil aviation developments. By consolidating oversight and coordination at the regional level, GCC states aim to boost efficiency, competitiveness, and the global reputation of Gulf aviation. Florida, United States: A small twin-engine aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on the southbound side of Interstate 95 in Brevard County on Monday evening, striking a car in traffic as it descended. The plane identified as a multi-engine Beechcraft 55 came down near mile marker 201 in Cocoa at approximately 5:45 p.m., according to local authorities. The aircraft collided with a 2023 Toyota Camry being driven southbound, causing the car to be crushed against the median and scattering debris across multiple lanes. The Camry’s driver, a 57-year-old woman, was transported to Viera Hospital with what were described as minor injuries. Both the 27-year-old pilot and a 27-year-old passenger aboard the aircraft escaped without injury. Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene. One bystander, who captured dash-cam footage of the crash, said the plane appeared to “drop out of the sky” and impact the rear of the car before sliding to a halt. Others at the scene including two nurses among passing motorists rushed to assist the driver. Authorities including the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched an investigation, with support from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Preliminary findings indicate the aircraft lost power in both engines before the emergency landing. There are no reports of fuel leaks, and traffic on the interstate which had been blocked in both directions for several hours was restored by around 9 p.m. local time. Officials have appealed to anyone with video footage or additional information to contact the NTSB, as investigators continue their probe into what caused the dual-engine failure. This was the second small-aircraft emergency reported in Florida on December 8. Earlier that afternoon, a Cessna 172 made an emergency landing on Jacobs Road in DeLand, about 46 miles north of Orlando. The single-engine plane came down around 2 p.m., according to reports from Fox 13 News. No major injuries were reported in that incident.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Lokendra Singh, the aircraft veered off during take‑off and nosedived into scrubland adjacent to the airstrip just as authorities were preparing the runway for an emergency airlift of an injured soldier. “The solo pilot miraculously escaped without injuries,” he told IANS. Eyewitnesses described a sudden loss of control, followed by a plume of dust and debris as the plane left the runway and hit rough terrain. The aircraft reportedly did not catch fire, and there was no immediate sign of a major structural breakup. Dhana Airstrip located in Sagar district serves as the primary training base for Chimes Aviation Academy. CAA lists the Dhana facility among its certified flying bases. The accident renews scrutiny over repeated safety‑related incidents at Dhana. CAA and the local administration have not yet released a detailed statement. An investigation is expected to determine whether pilot error, technical failure or runway/airstrip conditions caused the mishap. Similar Training Aircraft Crash At Seoni Two Days Ago About two days ago, a training aircraft belonging to Redbird Flight Training Academy crashed near Seoni district in Madhya Pradesh. According to police and local reports, the aircraft struck a 33 kV high‑voltage power line while preparing to land near the village of Amgaon, roughly 2 km from Suktara Airstrip. The wing’s impact severed the line, leading to a crash in a nearby field; both the pilot and the flight instructor identified as Ajit Anthony (instructor) and Ajit Chawda (trainee) sustained injuries but are now out of danger. In addition to the human injuries, the accident caused electricity disruption around 80–90 villages under the local power‑substation were plunged into darkness. Previous Training Aircraft Incidents at Chimes Aviation Academy 6 April 2009, a training aircraft of Chimes Aviation Academy, a Cessna 172R registered VT‑CAI departed from Dhana Airstrip on a cross‑country solo training flight. On its return leg near Bargi Dam in Madhya Pradesh, the aircraft reportedly flew very low over the water, made a low pass near fishermen, and then plunged into the dam. The wreckage was recovered on 29 May 2009, after more than a month, with the aircraft destroyed, the engine hanging and the propeller facing downward. The lone trainee pilot on board tragically died. 3 January 2020, Dhana Airstrip, Sagar (MP), a Cessna 172 training aircraft of Chimes Aviation Academy crashed during landing at Dhana Airstrip. Both the instructor and trainee on board tragically lost their lives in the accident 17 July 2021, Dhana Airstrip, Sagar, a Cessna 172R (VT‑CAG) operated by the academy experienced a runway excursion during take‑off or landing at Dhana Airstrip. The aircraft skidded off the runway, but the trainee pilot escaped unhurt. 6 March 2024, Guna Airstrip, Guna district (MP), a Cessna 172S (VT‑CHP) developed engine trouble mid-flight while traveling from Neemuch to Dhana. The trainee pilot attempted an emergency landing at Guna Airstrip but lost control, crashing into bushes. The pilot was injured, and the aircraft sustained substantial damage.

The incident disrupted operations at Edinburgh Airport and triggered the temporary suspension of all flights. Flight BA1443, operating an Airbus A320 (registration G‑EUUI), took off from Edinburgh’s Runway 24 at approximately 11:13 GMT on Monday morning. According to tracking data and air‑traffic sources, the flight crew soon identified that the aircraft’s landing gear could not be fully retracted. They issued a “7700” squawk the general‑emergency code then held at altitude around 6,500 feet while troubleshooting. The aircraft circled near the Stirling area for roughly 30–40 minutes before returning to Edinburgh. It landed safely at around 12:20 GMT. Upon landing, the aircraft came to a stop on Edinburgh’s only operational runway and remained immobilised due to the landing‑gear problem. As a result, the airport suspended all arrivals and departures until the aircraft could be towed off and the runway inspected and cleared. During the shutdown, flights from other carriers including easyJet, Ryanair and Lufthansa were delayed or diverted, creating a ripple effect of disruption across the airport’s schedule. Passengers aboard BA1443 were safely evacuated, they were transported back to the terminal via coaches. In a statement, British Airways confirmed the flight’s safe return, “The aircraft returned to Edinburgh Airport safely after our pilots identified a technical issue after take‑off.” The airline added it is working to minimise disruption for affected customers. Edinburgh Airport said that safety remained its top priority. After the aircraft was towed off the runway and hydraulic fluid cleared, normal operations resumed. The airport thanked passengers for their patience and the response teams for their swift action.

The plane skidded off the paved surface onto soft ground adjacent to the runway, coming to a halt within the runway protected area. Despite the dramatic nature of the event, all passengers and crew on board were evacuated safely using external stairs and emergency slides were not deployed. There have been no reports of injuries. According to the airline and official statements from the embassy of Kosovo in Turkey, the aircraft’s deviation was not due to a mechanical failure or pilot error, but was triggered by wet and soft terrain following heavy rainfall in the area. Investigators have reportedly launched a probe to verify whether runway surface conditions played a decisive role. The incident forced an immediate closure of runway 06R/24L to allow for safe removal of the aircraft and inspection of the runway and taxiway infrastructure. Aviation authorities recorded flight delays. Flights operated by several major carriers including Turkish Airlines, as well as regional and international airlines were among those severely disrupted. New Delhi, India: In a decisive move to tackle widespread flight cancellations by IndiGo, the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced on 5th December, 2025 that certain Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) enforced by the DGCA have been placed in abeyance with immediate effect. The temporary suspension aims to restore airline operations, relieve passenger distress, and maintain safety standards. IndiGo, India’s largest domestic carrier, cancelled over 1,000 flights across its network over the past five days, affecting major airports including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad. On Friday, 5 December, nearly 400 flights were cancelled in a single day, disrupting travel for thousands of passengers. Previously, media reports estimated that cumulative cancellations during the multi-day disruption crossed the 550 flight mark nationwide. The airline’s on-time performance (OTP) fell sharply to 8.5%, 19.7% on Wednesday, 35% of the IndiGo flights operated on time on Tuesday, down from 67.7% in November 2025 before FDTL enforcement. The disruption was triggered by DGCA’s revised Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) norms, aimed at reducing pilot fatigue and enhancing safety. The stricter Phase 2, effective from 1 November 2025, mandates 48 hours of weekly rest, limits consecutive night duties, and caps night landings and duty extensions The official PIB statement highlighted that the abeyance of FDTL rules is “urgent and proactive” and undertaken “solely in the interest of passengers,” particularly seniors, students, patients, and travellers dependent on timely air services. The government has mandated: Immediate restoration of flight schedules, with normal operations expected within three days. Airlines provide real-time updates, automatic refunds for cancellations, hotel accommodation for stranded passengers, and special assistance for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. A 24×7 control room to monitor airline operations and coordinate corrective measures. A high-level inquiry to examine the causes of the disruption, determine accountability, and recommend preventive measures. While safety-driven, these rules exposed gaps in crew availability, particularly for an airline of IndiGo’s scale. The airline had notified regulators about challenges in roster planning and pilot availability, prompting the government’s intervention. What the Abeyance Means The abeyance is temporary and does not repeal FDTL rules; safety remains a priority. São Paulo, Brazil: A LATAM Airlines Airbus A320 was evacuated late on Thursday after a fire broke out in ground-handling equipment during pre-departure operations at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), forcing 169 passengers to leave the aircraft as a safety precaution. According to LATAM, the incident occurred while the aircraft was preparing for a scheduled service to Porto Alegre. The fire did not originate from the aircraft itself but from third-party baggage-loading equipment positioned near the fuselage. Smoke from the blaze prompted the flight crew to activate emergency evacuation procedures. Passengers exited the aircraft using both the boarding bridge and emergency evacuation slides. Airport fire and rescue teams responded immediately and contained the fire within minutes. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. LATAM stated that all affected passengers were provided with assistance following the evacuation. Of the 169 onboard, 159 passengers were re-accommodated on flights the following morning, while the remaining travellers were assisted through alternative arrangements, including ground transport. The next scheduled leg, a flight from Malé to Colombo, was cancelled as a result of the incident. On 28 November 2025 a Emirates Airbus A380‑842 at Manchester Airport (UK) was struck by a fuel‑truck while parked at a gate, during routine turnaround after arrival from Dubai. The collision damaged the cowling of the engine intake though there was no fuel leak, fire or injuries and forced cancellation of the return flight EK18 to Dubai. The aircraft remained grounded for inspections and repairs, and took off again on 30 November for flight EK20 to Dubai, signalling the damage was deemed repairable.

The deployment will take place at Autódromo José Carlos Pace (Interlagos), where Revo will use Vector to manage high-volume helicopter operations during the Formula 1 race weekend. The software will support real-time coordination of aircraft movements, ground operations and vertiport activity in one of the most demanding urban aviation environments in Brazil. Vector’s Vertiport and Ground Operations module will be used for the live operation. The module enables scheduling, traffic optimization, aircraft sequencing and digital coordination between air and ground teams. According to Eve Air Mobility, this marks the first time the software will operate outside a test or simulated environment. Eve stated that the deployment represents a critical step in validating Vector’s readiness for large-scale commercial use. The company also confirmed that a Fleet Operations module, designed to support both helicopters and future eVTOL aircraft, is scheduled for release in 2026. The deployment builds on the long-term partnership between Eve and Revo. In June 2025, Revo signed a framework agreement with Eve covering up to 50 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, positioning São Paulo as one of the first cities expected to see large-scale commercial eVTOL services. Eve said real-world operations at a high-traffic international sporting event will provide critical data to refine Vector’s performance, scalability and safety features ahead of future urban eVTOL networks.
