Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: AutoFlight has strengthened its foothold in the Middle East after Falcon Aviation Services placed an order for 50 of the company’s electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The agreement, signed on October 27, 2025, positions Falcon as one of the first regional operators preparing large-scale deployment of eVTOL platforms for industrial and mobility missions. The order includes 15 V2000CG “CarryAll” cargo aircraft and 35 V2000EM “Prosperity” passenger aircraft, with the first deliveries expected by the end of 2025. Falcon intends to use the fleet to support operations for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), signalling a shift towards low-emission, high-efficiency aerial support in the energy sector. AutoFlight’s cargo model, the CarryAll, has already achieved a full suite of airworthiness approvals from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) including the Type Certificate, Production Certificate and individual Airworthiness Certificates. The aircraft has also entered commercial service in China following delivery to Heli Chuangxing Intelligent, marking one of the first certified heavy-lift eVTOL deployments globally. The passenger-focused Prosperity model remains in its verification and regulatory testing phase. AutoFlight is working toward passenger-operation certification in multiple jurisdictions, a process that will determine the pace of Falcon’s full-scale rollout in the UAE. Falcon Aviation Services said the partnership aligns with its long-term strategy to modernise its mobility capabilities and expand its role in advanced air mobility (AAM) across the region. The company operates a broad portfolio of charter, offshore support, aircraft management and MRO services across the Middle East and Africa.

Bunawan, Philippines: A Philippine Air Force helicopter carrying six personnel on a disaster-relief mission crashed in the southern province of Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, killing everyone on board, as Typhoon Kalmaegi devastated large parts of the country with torrential rains and powerful winds. The UH-1H Super Huey helicopter lost radio contact shortly after take-off from Davao de Oro province while en route to deliver aid to typhoon-hit areas. Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that search-and-rescue teams located the wreckage in a mountainous forest near Bunawan town, where all six crew members were found dead. “The aircraft was on a humanitarian mission carrying relief goods for communities isolated by the typhoon,” the Philippine Air Force said in a statement. “Recovery and investigation teams have been dispatched to the site to determine the cause of the crash.” The crash occurred as Typhoon Kalmaegi locally named Tino lashed the central and southern Philippines, triggering landslides and floods that have killed at least 66 people nationwide, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). Cebu province bore the brunt of the storm, with flash floods submerging entire neighborhoods and landslides cutting off key roads. In some low-lying areas, residents were rescued from rooftops after water levels rose overnight. Kalmaegi made landfall over Samar island late Sunday with sustained winds of 130 km/h and gusts up to 180 km/h, before crossing the Visayas region and moving into the South China Sea on Tuesday. Forecasters warned that the storm could strengthen again as it heads toward central Vietnam. The Philippines, which lies along the Pacific typhoon belt, experiences around 20 tropical storms each year. Scientists have long warned that warmer ocean temperatures may be intensifying the strength of such weather systems. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered an immediate review of disaster-response coordination and aviation safety procedures following the fatal helicopter crash. “Our rescue workers risk their lives to help others. We must ensure their safety while they serve the nation,” he said in a televised briefing. As emergency teams continue to clear debris and restore access to isolated areas, authorities have urged residents to remain alert for further flooding, with several dams releasing excess water due to heavy rainfall. Kalmaegi is the deadliest storm to hit the Philippines this year and comes just weeks after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck the same region, compounding the humanitarian crisis.

Anchorage, United States: Regional carrier Kenai Aviation has announced an immediate shutdown of all operations, citing severe financial distress and aircraft maintenance issues that have rendered continued service impossible. The abrupt closure has left several Alaska communities without scheduled passenger air service, raising concerns over rural connectivity in the state. In a message posted on the company’s website on Monday, Kenai Aviation owner Joel Caldwell said he was “devastated” by the decision but could no longer sustain operations amid mounting debt. “We have to cease all operations immediately. I am devastated,” Caldwell wrote. “Our operations may stop, but this vision continues… I believe that Flight 114 will board again. We need capital, we need partners, we need a lifeline.” Founded in 1959, Kenai Aviation originally supported Cook Inlet’s oil and gas operations before expanding into passenger and charter services across south-central Alaska. Caldwell acquired the company in 2018 and attempted to modernize its fleet and restart scheduled service to underserved communities. The company faced a growing debt burden dating back to the pandemic period, which intensified after its King Air aircraft, a key asset serving the Anchorage Unalakleet route, was grounded for maintenance. The setback severely affected the carrier’s ability to maintain service reliability and cash flow. “Kenai Aviation has been struggling to keep up with the cost of operations in an environment where rising fuel, maintenance, and insurance expenses are hitting small regional carriers hardest,” the ADN report stated. Earlier in 2025, the airline’s performance had already been under scrutiny when data showed that only about 45% of scheduled flights between Anchorage and Unalakleet were completed during a three-week span starting in July. The shutdown is a major blow to Unalakleet, a western Alaska community that relied on Kenai Aviation for passenger travel and cargo. With the airline’s exit, the village now lacks a regularly scheduled passenger carrier. Kenai Aviation’s departure could disrupt essential mobility for residents and delay medical, educational, and commercial travel. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is expected to reassign the Essential Air Service (EAS) contract for the affected route, though no replacement operator has yet been confirmed.
