Pachuca, Mexico: A Cessna 210 aircraft operated by Grupo Aeroespacial Avspace crashed shortly after taking off from Pachuca National Airport in Hidalgo, Mexico, on 2 November, 2026 killing both people on board. The aircraft, registered as XB-AZG, was bound for Cuernavaca International Airport in Morelos when it went down during its initial climb, approximately one minute after departure.
According to an information note issued by Mexico’s Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), the aircraft departed at 09:30 local time. At 09:31, it crashed approximately 500 metres from the threshold of runway 21, striking Tezontle Avenue in the Venta Prieta neighbourhood of Pachuca. The aircraft caught fire following the impact, prompting an emergency response from local authorities, firefighters and security personnel.
AFAC confirmed that both occupants died in the accident. A subsequent information bulletin issued by Hidalgo’s Sub Secretariat of Civil Protection and Risk Management, identified as SSPC GR-305-2026, provisionally named the deceased as Moisés González Meléndez, the pilot, and José Jaime Jarquín Ramos, the co-pilot. Their full identities have been reported, but formal identification should not be described as completed unless authorities confirm it. The two names have not been included in AFAC’s initial accident statement.
The aircraft was owned and operated by Grupo Aeroespacial Avspace, S.A. de C.V., a company based in Cuernavaca that provides aeronautical training and aviation-related services. Aircraft registry information cited in local reporting lists training as its declared service. However, authorities have not established whether the aircraft was conducting a training flight at the time of the accident.
In its official statement, AFAC said: “Personnel from the Pachuca Airport Command travelled to the scene of the incident to carry out the corresponding actions; likewise, an administrative investigation was initiated.”
The agency has not disclosed the circumstances that led to the aircraft’s descent or identified any possible technical or operational factors. No preliminary cause has been established. The investigation is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the aircraft’s departure and subsequent impact.
