All five passengers and both crew members were recovered from mid-sea and taken to Dr Rajendra Prasad Hospital in Mayabunder for medical evaluation and treatment. Authorities said the two pilots and the remaining passenger were stable, with no life-threatening injuries reported so far. According to officials, the flight had taken off from Sri Vijaya Puram at approximately 8:45 a.m. for Mayabunder, following a previous leg from Port Blair. The helicopter was scheduled to land around 9:30 a.m., but encountered serious trouble shortly before touchdown. A preliminary inquiry by civil aviation authorities indicated the aircraft experienced a technical malfunction prompting the pilot to execute a controlled emergency landing approximately 300 metres short of the runway. Authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew survived the incident without serious injury. The single-engine turboprop, registered PK-SNS, had departed from Douw Aturure Airport (NBX) bound for Kaimana Airport (KNG) shortly after noon local time. Shortly after takeoff, the flight crew detected a technical issue with the aircraft’s engine, prompting the captain to attempt a return to the departure airport. With engine thrust diminishing, the pilot executed an emergency landing at the Logpond Kaladiri area, a shallow coastal waterway adjacent to the airport. The aircraft came down at approximately 13:40 WIT (Western Indonesian Time), skidding into the water near Karadiri Beach before finally coming to rest. Authorities, including the Komite Nasional Keselamatan Transportasi (KNKT), are expected to launch a formal investigation into the mechanical issue to determine precise causes and contributing factors. Local residents who witnessed the event assisted rescue personnel in pulling survivors from the water while emergency services coordinated further safety assessments at the scene.

Katunayake, Sri Lanka: A Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 operating Flight TK-733 from Colombo to Istanbul made a safe emergency landing early Wednesday morning at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) after the crew detected a technical issue with the aircraft’s landing gear shortly after departure, according to airport authorities and multiple media reports. The wide-body aircraft, carrying 202 passengers and 10 crew members, departed BIA at around 10:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday. Shortly after take-off, the flight crew identified a problem with the landing gear and opted to return to the airport as a precautionary measure.
