All passengers and crew were safely deboarded, and the alert was later confirmed to be false. The incident involved Flight AI2939, which departed from Indira Gandhi International Airport for Ahmedabad with around 170 people onboard. Moments after take-off, the cockpit crew received a smoke warning from the cargo compartment and immediately followed emergency safety procedures, aborting the climb and turning back to Delhi. The aircraft landed safely without any injuries or technical damage. Air India engineers conducted a detailed inspection after landing and found no trace of smoke or fire, confirming that the alert was a technical false indication. According to airport officials, Flight QR 816, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER (registration A7-BOB), was cruising through Indian airspace when the crew detected abnormal cabin pressure levels. At 2:12 p.m. (IST), Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control declared a full emergency, activating standard response protocols and alerting ground services, medical units, and firefighting teams. The aircraft landed safely at 2:32 p.m., and the emergency status was withdrawn six minutes later, once engineers confirmed there was no immediate safety threat. All passengers and crew members onboard were reported safe, with no injuries or medical emergencies. “The aircraft landed safely in Ahmedabad following a technical issue,” a Qatar Airways spokesperson said in a brief statement. “All passengers are being looked after, and the aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance checks before resuming operations.” Airport authorities confirmed that normal flight operations continued uninterrupted during and after the emergency response. The Airbus A320-271N aircraft, operating as flight 6E 1507, took off from Surat around 9:30 AM with nearly 170 passengers on board. Shortly after departure, the crew detected a technical snag, reportedly related to the engine system, prompting the pilots to divert to Ahmedabad as a precautionary measure. The flight landed safely at around 11:00–11:40 AM, according to multiple reports. All passengers and crew were declared safe, with no injuries reported. Passengers were deboarded at Ahmedabad. IndiGo confirmed that a replacement aircraft was arranged, which departed Ahmedabad at around 1:45 PM IST and landed in Dubai at 1:35 PM local time, ensuring passengers reached their destination with a delay of about two hours .
