The company will also integrate NVIDIA’s IGX platform for onboard computing and sensor fusion to enhance autonomy and situational awareness. The digital twin will support predictive maintenance and certification efforts, marking a significant step for India’s Urban Air Mobility sector, though regulatory and computational challenges remain. Chennai, India: The ePlane Company, a deep-tech aerospace startup incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Chennai, has announced a significant milestone in the development of its e200x electric air taxi: the creation of a high-fir-delity digital twin model built with technology from NVIDIA. The announcement was made on 19 February 2026 in an official statement published by the company. The digital twin, constructed using NVIDIA’s Omniverse simulation libraries, is a virtual representation of the ePlane eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft designed to replicate complex aerodynamic behaviours, sensor inputs and flight scenarios with high precision. Engineers can now simulate interactions that would be expensive, risky or time-consuming to test physically, such as extreme weather conditions and emergency manoeuvres. To power onboard computing and real-time decision-making, The ePlane Company will deploy NVIDIA’s IGX platform, aimed at integrating multiple sensors like cameras and radar with advanced data-fusion and visualisation capabilities. This system is expected to support autonomy algorithms and enhance situational awareness during flight operations. In a statement included in the press release, Prof. Satya Chakravarthy, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of The ePlane Company, said the collaboration “blurs the line between the digital and the physical” and allows the company to validate its flight-operations systems extensively through simulation before real-world testing. The digital twin also functions as a predictive analytics engine, mirroring real-world aircraft behaviour to forecast maintenance requirements. This capability could reduce operational downtime and improve reliability as the e200x moves toward regulatory certification. The initiative marks a noteworthy advance for India’s growing Urban Air Mobility (UAM) sector, which has seen increasing investment and interest from both government and private players. The ePlane Company holds India’s first Design Organisation Approval (DOA) for a privately developed electric aircraft and operates a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Chennai. Despite the technological promise, regulatory frameworks for certifying eVTOL aircraft are still evolving in India and globally, which analysts identify as a key hurdle before large-scale deployment can begin. Moreover, building and validating high-accuracy digital twins requires significant computational resources, including high-performance GPUs and specialised engineering expertise. The ePlane e200x project essentializes the convergence of advanced simulation tools and next-generation aerospace design, reinforcing India’s ambitions in electric aviation and setting the stage for future developments in aerial mobility.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD), part of the M42 network, has partnered with Archer Aviation Inc. to develop the UAE’s first hospital-based vertiport, paving the way for next-generation urban air mobility in the healthcare sector. The announcement was made through Archer’s official investor release and verified by eVTOL Insights. According to the statement, the vertiport will be established under the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s (GCAA) recently introduced hybrid conversion framework, which allows existing helipads to be upgraded for dual operations supporting both traditional helicopters and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The initiative will see Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s current helipad transformed into a hybrid vertiport, facilitating advanced aerial logistics such as, Rapid medical transport, including time-critical organ delivery for transplants, Non-emergency patient transfers between medical facilities and visitor and staff transport, reducing ground traffic and emissions. Archer will deploy its Midnight eVTOL aircraft, a four-passenger electric aircraft designed for short-distance urban air mobility missions. The Midnight aircraft produces significantly lower noise levels and zero in-flight emissions, aligning with the UAE’s sustainability goals and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s environmental responsibility framework. “Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi continues to explore innovative solutions that enhance patient care and sustainability,” said Dr. Georges-Pascal Haber, CEO of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. “Integrating vertiport operations into our medical transport system will expand access to high-quality care while advancing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in future mobility.” Bryan Bernhard, Chief Growth & Infrastructure Officer at Archer Aviation, added, “This partnership demonstrates how advanced air mobility can transform essential services. Our goal is to make safe, efficient, and sustainable aerial transport a practical reality for healthcare.” The hospital-based vertiport is part of Archer’s broader Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) roadmap for the UAE, following its earlier approval for a hybrid vertiport at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal. Both initiatives support the Emirate’s ambition to establish a connected network of vertiports that link key transport hubs, business districts, and critical infrastructure such as hospitals. While the companies have not yet disclosed a construction timeline or operational date, the project remains under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) phase. Detailed engineering plans, regulatory approvals, and site-specific assessments will follow in collaboration with the GCAA, Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), and Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT). Once operational, the vertiport will serve as a model for other medical facilities across the UAE and the wider GCC region, signaling the integration of clean aviation technology into healthcare logistics.
