Montreal, Canada: Airports Council International (ACI) World has called for a comprehensive overhaul of global aviation policy frameworks, warning that outdated regulatory systems could limit the industry’s ability to manage rising demand, expand infrastructure, and meet long-term sustainability targets. The organisation formally launched its Policy Agenda 2030, positioning it as a strategic roadmap to modernise aviation governance and strengthen the role of airports in global economic development. ACI World said the aviation sector is entering a phase of sustained demand growth, but regulatory and infrastructure systems have not evolved at the same pace. It highlighted that increasing passenger volumes, geopolitical uncertainty, climate pressures, and operational constraints are creating a need for coordinated policy reform at the global level. The organisation stressed that without timely intervention, capacity bottlenecks and inefficiencies could emerge across major airport systems worldwide. At the core of the Policy Agenda 2030 is a call to reposition airports as strategic economic assets rather than purely infrastructure operators. ACI World emphasised that airports play a critical role in driving trade, tourism, investment, and employment, and therefore require governance models that reflect their broader economic importance. The organisation urged governments to adopt policies that enable airports to operate with greater flexibility, competitiveness, and financial sustainability. The framework also places strong focus on airport capacity expansion and operational efficiency. ACI World has called for modernised slot allocation systems, enhanced infrastructure development, and improved passenger facilitation processes to manage future traffic growth. It further highlighted the importance of workforce development and operational readiness as key enablers of efficient airport performance in the coming decade. Safety and security remain central to the agenda, with ACI World advocating for risk-based and globally harmonised regulatory frameworks. The organisation said aviation safety systems must continue to evolve in response to emerging operational challenges while maintaining high international standards and improving efficiency across airport operations. Sustainability is another major pillar of the Policy Agenda 2030. ACI World stressed the need for coordinated global action to address aviation emissions and climate resilience. It called for policies that support decarbonisation while ensuring airports can continue to expand capacity to meet growing demand. The organisation highlighted the role of airports as key contributors to climate action through infrastructure adaptation and long-term environmental planning. ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci underscored that aviation policy must evolve in line with industry growth, stating that airports should be recognised as strategic national infrastructure assets. He noted that enabling policy environments are essential for airports to deliver increased connectivity, economic value, and sustainable development outcomes. The Policy Agenda 2030 aligns with ACI World’s broader strategic direction for 2025–2030 and complements global aviation planning frameworks, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) long-term strategy toward 2050. The organisation said coordinated action between governments, regulators, and industry stakeholders will be critical to ensuring the aviation sector can support future economic growth and global connectivity.

California, United States: Joby Aviation has announced a strategic partnership with Air Space Intelligence (ASI) to accelerate the integration of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into the United States National Airspace System (NAS), marking a critical shift from aircraft development to airspace readiness. The collaboration, revealed on April 7, 2026, focuses on deploying ASI’s AI-powered Flyways platform as a core coordination layer to manage high-density eVTOL traffic, an emerging challenge as the industry approaches commercialization. While much of the eVTOL race has historically centered on aircraft design such as range, noise, and efficiency the partnership highlights a growing industry concern: airspace congestion at scale. With Joby eVTOL nearing FAA type certification and preparing for early commercial operations under the White House-backed eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, the focus is now shifting toward managing potentially hundreds of simultaneous flights across major urban corridors such as New York, Miami, and Dallas. The companies aim to address this challenge before large-scale deployment begins. At the center of the collaboration is ASI’s Flyways AI, built on its PRESCIENCE platform, which creates a four-dimensional digital model of airspace by integrating real-time traffic data, weather inputs, and demand forecasts. This system enables air traffic controllers to anticipate congestion and optimize routing proactively rather than reacting after disruptions occur. Bernard Asare, President of Civil Aviation at Air Space Intelligence, emphasized the importance of this shift, stating, “Scaling advanced air mobility requires more than new aircraft… it requires a new operating system for the airspace.” He added that the platform provides predictive awareness to coordinate high-density operations “proactively, not reactively,” bringing these capabilities to eVTOL operations from the outset. Unlike earlier initiatives that focused primarily on drone traffic management systems, this partnership of eVTOL is designed to integrate directly with existing air traffic control (ATC) workflows rather than operate as a parallel system. Flyways AI will augment controller decision-making within the current NAS infrastructure, a move that could prove critical in gaining regulatory acceptance and operational scalability. The companies confirmed that joint demonstrations, including live operational exercises, are expected before the end of 2026, aligning with Joby’s planned commercial launch timeline. These trials are expected to validate how AI-driven coordination performs in real-world, high-density airspace environments. The partnership builds on ASI’s existing experience in conventional aviation, where its technology already supports major stakeholders, including airlines and U.S. defense operations. The company’s systems reportedly manage a significant portion of U.S. air traffic, strengthening its credibility in safety-critical environments. Meanwhile, Joby eVTOL continues to advance toward commercialization. The company recently completed piloted demonstration flights in California and has been selected to participate in multiple projects under the U.S. government’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, which enables early operations across several states.

São Paulo, Brazil: On 10 November, 2025 Eve Air Mobility and Revo have announced the first real-world operational deployment of Eve’s Vector Urban Air Traffic Management (UATM) software during the 2025 São Paulo Grand Prix, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of urban air mobility infrastructure. The deployment will take place at Autódromo José Carlos Pace (Interlagos), where Revo will use Vector to manage high-volume helicopter operations during the Formula 1 race weekend. The software will support real-time coordination of aircraft movements, ground operations and vertiport activity in one of the most demanding urban aviation environments in Brazil. Vector’s Vertiport and Ground Operations module will be used for the live operation. The module enables scheduling, traffic optimization, aircraft sequencing and digital coordination between air and ground teams. According to Eve Air Mobility, this marks the first time the software will operate outside a test or simulated environment. Eve stated that the deployment represents a critical step in validating Vector’s readiness for large-scale commercial use. The company also confirmed that a Fleet Operations module, designed to support both helicopters and future eVTOL aircraft, is scheduled for release in 2026. The deployment builds on the long-term partnership between Eve and Revo. In June 2025, Revo signed a framework agreement with Eve covering up to 50 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, positioning São Paulo as one of the first cities expected to see large-scale commercial eVTOL services. Eve said real-world operations at a high-traffic international sporting event will provide critical data to refine Vector’s performance, scalability and safety features ahead of future urban eVTOL networks.

Cape Town, Antarctica: Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly has successfully completed the world’s first Airbus A330 landing on an Antarctic ice runway, marking a major milestone in the evolution of polar aviation. The aircraft touched down at Wolf’s Fang Runway in Queen Maud Land after departing from Cape Town, South Africa. The historic flight was operated using an Airbus A330-302 registered as 9H-HFI and was commanded by Hi Fly Vice-Chairman Captain Carlos Mirpuri, who has previously led several pioneering polar operations for the airline. The mission was conducted on behalf of luxury expedition operator White Desert Antarctica as part of the 2025–26 Antarctic summer season. Wolf’s Fang Runway is a blue-ice airstrip carved out of glacial ice and used for logistics, scientific operations and high-end tourism. In November 2021, Hi Fly made global aviation history by becoming the first airline to land a widebody commercial jet on an Antarctic ice runway. The aircraft used was an Airbus A340-300, which touched down on the blue-ice Wolf’s Fang Runway in the interior of Antarctica. The deployment of the A330 was made possible following recent upgrades to ground-handling and runway-support infrastructure at Wolf’s Fang. These improvements now allow safe operations of modern twin-engine widebody aircraft in one of the world’s most challenging aviation environments. The shift from the four-engine A340 to the twin-engine A330 also brings significant environmental and efficiency benefits. The A330 offers lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions and improved operating economics, aligning with growing sustainability expectations for Antarctic operations. Aviation analysts say the successful A330 landing sets a new benchmark for polar operations and opens the door for broader use of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft for both tourism and scientific logistics in Antarctica. With expanding infrastructure and proven aircraft capability, operators could increasingly rely on twin-engine widebodies for future missions. While Russian cargo jets and military aircraft had operated on Antarctic ice runways earlier, Hi Fly became the first commercial airline to land a widebody passenger jet on Wolf’s Fang Runway in Antarctica’s interior in 2021, followed by the world’s first Airbus A330 ice-runway landing in 2025. For White Desert Antarctica, the milestone strengthens its ability to transport guests, researchers and critical supplies to one of the most remote locations on Earth with improved capacity and lower environmental impact.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: AutoFlight has strengthened its foothold in the Middle East after Falcon Aviation Services placed an order for 50 of the company’s electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The agreement, signed on October 27, 2025, positions Falcon as one of the first regional operators preparing large-scale deployment of eVTOL platforms for industrial and mobility missions. The order includes 15 V2000CG “CarryAll” cargo aircraft and 35 V2000EM “Prosperity” passenger aircraft, with the first deliveries expected by the end of 2025. Falcon intends to use the fleet to support operations for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), signalling a shift towards low-emission, high-efficiency aerial support in the energy sector. AutoFlight’s cargo model, the CarryAll, has already achieved a full suite of airworthiness approvals from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) including the Type Certificate, Production Certificate and individual Airworthiness Certificates. The aircraft has also entered commercial service in China following delivery to Heli Chuangxing Intelligent, marking one of the first certified heavy-lift eVTOL deployments globally. The passenger-focused Prosperity model remains in its verification and regulatory testing phase. AutoFlight is working toward passenger-operation certification in multiple jurisdictions, a process that will determine the pace of Falcon’s full-scale rollout in the UAE. Falcon Aviation Services said the partnership aligns with its long-term strategy to modernise its mobility capabilities and expand its role in advanced air mobility (AAM) across the region. The company operates a broad portfolio of charter, offshore support, aircraft management and MRO services across the Middle East and Africa.
