On landing in Varanasi, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) detained not only the passenger but also eight individuals traveling with him. The group of nine was handed over to Phulpur police for further questioning to determine intent and establish whether the act was accidental or deliberate. Air India Express confirmed the incident but stressed that flight safety and security protocols were never compromised. “Our crew acted promptly in line with standard operating procedures, and the cockpit remained secure throughout,” the airline said in a statement. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been notified, and officials are assessing whether the incident qualifies as “Level-3 unruly behaviour,” the highest category under India’s Civil Aviation Requirements. Such classification could result in strict penalties, including the possibility of the passenger being placed on a no-fly list.

About 10 nautical miles into its climb, the pilots detected abnormal vibrations in one of the engines and suspected a bird strike. Following standard safety protocols, the commander immediately contacted Air Traffic Control and requested clearance to return. The aircraft made a precautionary landing back at Visakhapatnam airport at approximately 3:00 PM. Emergency services were placed on standby, but the landing was completed without incident. All passengers were safely deboarded, and no injuries were reported. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed of the incident, and engineers are carrying out a detailed inspection to confirm the extent of the damage and verify whether a bird strike was indeed the cause of the engine trouble. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said the single-engine de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver went down near Makepeace Lake while carrying five people. All four passengers, two men aged 53 and 49 and two women who both were 50 were residents of St. Theresa Point First Nation and died at the scene. The 20-year-old pilot, the sole survivor, sustained serious injuries but is expected to recover. Authorities confirmed he was airlifted to hospital after being located by rescue teams in difficult nighttime conditions. The crash site was located after RCMP received an alert from an iPhone satellite crash-detection system. Due to the fly-in nature of the community, officers chartered a helicopter to reach the scene. The lone RCMP officer was dropped about 500 metres away because of darkness and rough terrain and had to hike to the wreckage. Kentucky, United States: The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its final report into the September 27, 2023, crash of a Piper PA-28-161 that killed a flight instructor and student pilot near Whitesville, Kentucky, concluding that the accident was caused by the instructor’s decision to continue flying into an area of severe thunderstorms. Investigators found the airplane suffered an in-flight breakup after encountering extreme turbulence inside convective weather. The Eagle Flight Academy aircraft departed Bowling Green-Woodhurst Airport at 9:55 p.m. for a night cross-country training mission intended to complete the student’s night-flying requirement. The 22-year-old instructor and 18-year-old student were on their first flight together. According to ADS-B data and air traffic control recordings, the aircraft climbed to 4,500 feet and was warned by controllers at 10:44 p.m. of “heavy to extreme precipitation” to its left. Two minutes later, the instructor requested an instrument flight rules clearance but continued circling in the weather and reported the airplane was “getting blown around like crazy” and in “pretty extreme turbulence.” Moments later, communications ceased.
