Yangon, Myanmar: A Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) ATR 72-600 aircraft was involved in a ground collision at Yangon International Airport after suffering a brake system failure while taxiing, according to multiple media reports and initial findings. The incident occurred during routine ground movement when the turboprop aircraft reportedly lost braking capability, causing it to accelerate uncontrollably along the taxiway. Unable to slow down, the aircraft collided with the tail section of a stationary Myanmar Airways International (MAI) Airbus A319 parked on the apron. Following the initial impact, the ATR 72 veered off its path, spun, and subsequently struck ground support equipment, including a baggage cart, before coming to a stop within airport premises. The ATR 72-600 sustained damage to its nose/front section, while the parked Airbus A319 was struck on its tail section during the collision. Both aircraft sustained structural damage, and ground equipment was also affected. However, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported among passengers, crew, or airport personnel, and no fire or major destruction occurred. Airport authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the brake system malfunction and to evaluate whether any maintenance, operational, or procedural lapses contributed to the incident. Nice, France: A Luxair regional aircraft was forced to perform an emergency landing at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport on Thursday, January 22, after the crew received a warning of a potential landing gear malfunction, the airline and aviation authorities confirmed. Flight LG8255, operated by a De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop registered LX-LQA, departed Luxembourg Findel Airport at approximately 13:17 local time en route to Nice with 74 passengers and crew onboard. According to initial reports, the flight crew received an “unsafe indication” for the right main landing gear during the approach to Nice. Following standard safety protocols, the aircraft aborted its first landing attempt and entered a holding pattern over the Mediterranean Sea to troubleshoot the issue. As a precautionary measure, the crew shut down the right-hand engine and prepared the cabin for an emergency landing, instructing passengers to assume the brace position. After approximately 75 minutes in the air, the aircraft returned to Nice and completed a safe landing on runway 04L, coming to a stop on the runway surface. The aircraft was unable to taxi under its own power and remained on the runway while emergency services attended. All 74 passengers and crew disembarked safely and were transported by bus to the terminal. Local airport authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. Fire and rescue units had been pre-positioned on the runway as part of routine emergency response procedures. In response to the incident, air traffic at Nice was temporarily suspended, resulting in brief disruptions to scheduled arrivals and departures. Luxair CEO Gilles Feith described the situation as “an enormously stressful event” but praised the professionalism of the flight crew and passengers in managing the emergency. He attributed the issue to a faulty landing gear sensor, noting that after landing the indication returned to normal. “The sensor showed an unsafe indication, although the landing gear was later confirmed as locked,” Feith said in an interview. The airline has dispatched maintenance personnel and auditors to Nice to conduct a full technical investigation into the cause of the warning and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Orlando, United States: A United Airlines flight traveling from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Orlando International Airport experienced a significant mechanical issue upon landing on Sunday afternoon, resulting in one of the aircraft’s nose wheels detaching and temporarily blocking the runway, authorities confirmed. United Airlines Flight UA2323, operated with an Airbus A321neo registered N14502, departed Chicago at approximately 8:55 a.m. CST and was scheduled to arrive at Orlando International Airport (MCO) at 12:35 p.m. EST. Shortly after touchdown on Sunday, January 18, video footage shared on social media captured the aircraft making contact with the runway under what appeared to be challenging weather conditions. During the landing sequence, one of the forward nose wheels detached from the aircraft and rolled off the runway surface. Eyewitness video shows the aircraft’s main wheels touching down, followed by a series of uneven bounces. The aircraft veered slightly, and the separated wheel can be seen rolling away from the plane. The aircraft ultimately came to a stop on the runway. United Airlines reported that there were 200 passengers and six crew members on board at the time of the incident. Despite the severity of the landing and the mechanical failure, no injuries were reported. Passengers were safely disembarked and transported to the terminal via buses after being unable to reach the gate normally. Immediately following the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and airport authorities issued a ground stop at MCO, temporarily halting all departing and arriving flights to allow emergency crews to secure the scene and clear debris. The ground stop was later adjusted to a ground delay as operations gradually resumed later in the afternoon. Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest travel hubs in Florida, and the runway closure led to delays and logistical disruptions across scheduled flights during peak travel hours. Preliminary accounts noted gusty and windy conditions at the time of landing, with reported wind gusts above typical operational norms. While weather may have contributed to the severity of the landing, authorities have not confirmed whether it was a causal factor in the mechanical failure. United Airlines and the FAA have not yet released detailed technical findings, but the aircraft has been removed from service and is undergoing maintenance inspection. Investigators are reviewing whether the failure was due to the hard landing dynamics, mechanical fatigue, weather stress, or a combination of factors. Federal aviation safety teams are continuing their examination of the incident. Official reports from the FAA or the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected in the coming days to clarify the precise mechanical cause and any contributing conditions. Final findings will inform whether industry safety procedures or maintenance protocols require updates.

Washington, United States: A United Express regional flight of United Airlines bound for Mobile, Alabama, returned to Washington Dulles International Airport shortly after takeoff Sunday evening following an apparent engine malfunction, authorities confirmed Monday. The CommuteAir-operated United Express Flight 4295, an Embraer ERJ-145 regional jet, departed Dulles International Airport (IAD) for Mobile Regional Airport (MOB) at approximately 6:30 p.m. Eastern, carrying 43 passengers and 3 crew members, according to airport officials. Minutes after becoming airborne, the flight crew reported an issue with one of the aircraft’s engines and elected to return to the airport under emergency protocols. Airport rescue and firefighting crews were on standby as the aircraft made its return. The jet landed safely at Dulles at approximately 6:45 p.m., and no injuries were reported among passengers or crew, spokespersons for United Airlines and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said. Following the landing, the aircraft was inspected by maintenance teams. Passengers were disembarked and re-accommodated on alternative flights later Sunday night. Full details on the engine issue, including its cause and any potential maintenance findings, have not yet been released. This event follows another recent safety incident at Dulles involving a United Airlines Boeing 777-200ER flight bound for Tokyo Haneda Airport on December 13, 2025. That flight returned safely to Dulles shortly after takeoff when one of its engines lost power; debris from the engine’s cowling struck the ground and sparked a small brush fire near the runway. Officials confirmed no injuries in that incident, and the Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate. The FAA typically opens a formal review of such occurrences to determine the contributing factors and evaluate any safety implications. United Airlines, its regional partners, and regulatory authorities regularly collaborate on ensuring aircraft airworthiness and operational safety, particularly when mechanical issues prompt precautionary actions like flight returns.

Atlanta, United States: A LATAM Airlines Peru aircraft suffered multiple tire failures upon landing late Tuesday evening at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, prompting an emergency response and the evacuation of passengers onto the runway, officials said. The wide-body Boeing 767-300ER, operating as Flight 2482 from Lima, Peru, touched down safely at approximately 7:38 p.m. local time after a nonstop flight, according to preliminary data and statements from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Moments after touchdown, several tires on the aircraft’s main landing gear blew out, though the flight crew maintained control and brought the aircraft to a stop on the runway without further incident. Emergency responders, including units from the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, were dispatched to the scene after the airport was alerted to the blown tires. Early reports described the situation as “flat tires on an aircraft.” Video footage shared by on-scene observers showed passengers being guided off the aircraft directly onto the runway surface as mechanics worked under the jet to inspect and stabilize the damaged landing gear. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported among passengers or crew. The FAA has opened an investigation into the cause of the tire failures, though preliminary findings have not yet been released. Portions of the runway were cleared briefly for safety checks, but overall airport operations continued with minimal disruption. Eyewitness accounts and passenger-posted commentary on social media indicate that the landing was perceived as unusually firm, with passengers reporting significant vibration as the aircraft touched down. Some online accounts suggest all eight main wheels may have been affected, though such details have not been confirmed by official sources. LATAM Airlines and partner Delta Air Lines, which have a codeshare agreement on certain routes, have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the incident or confirmed whether any Delta-booked passengers were on board. Airport authorities and airline representatives have been approached for comment. The FAA’s investigation will examine operational, mechanical and environmental factors that may have contributed to the tire blowouts. Similar wheel and tire incidents, while uncommon, have occurred at major airports in the past, typically resulting in emergency responses but rarely causing serious injuries when crews execute safe braking and evacuation procedures.
