Phuket, Thailand: An Etihad Airways aircraft bound for Phuket from Abu Dhabi encountered significant atmospheric turbulence in the final phase of its approach on Wednesday, prompting precautionary ground response measures. The Airbus A321 operating as Flight EY416 landed safely at Phuket International Airport at approximately 11:50 a.m. local time, and all passengers and crew disembarked without injury, airport authorities and airline officials confirmed. At around 11:00 a.m., the flight crew reported turbulence during descent toward the seaside resort island. The airline informed the airport’s medical division that the aircraft had encountered unstable air. In response, Phuket Airport activated its emergency response plan, placing firefighting, rescue and medical teams on standby and designating a dedicated parking bay in anticipation of possible assistance needs. Airport officials emphasized that all emergency preparations were precautionary. After the aircraft touched down and came to a halt at the assigned stand, medical personnel and ground crews assessed passengers and confirmed that none of the 160 passengers or crew members sustained injuries requiring treatment. Normal airport operations continued without disruption. Local authorities, including the Immigration Bureau, corroborated that every individual on board exited the aircraft safely and was transported to the terminal by airport buses. The airport also expressed appreciation for the readiness of nearby medical institutions, such as Vachira Phuket Hospital and Thalang Hospital, which had been alerted in advance as part of standard procedure. Initial reports on some regional media had suggested possible injuries sustained during the turbulence; however, these claims were later clarified by official statements from Phuket International Airport and Etihad Airways, which confirmed that no injuries were reported. An Etihad Airways spokesperson further reiterated that the flight’s safe landing and orderly disembarkation underscore the airline’s emphasis on passenger safety. The aircraft will undergo routine inspection following the turbulence encounter, standard practice after any unexpected in‑flight disturbance.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: AutoFlight has strengthened its foothold in the Middle East after Falcon Aviation Services placed an order for 50 of the company’s electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The agreement, signed on October 27, 2025, positions Falcon as one of the first regional operators preparing large-scale deployment of eVTOL platforms for industrial and mobility missions. The order includes 15 V2000CG “CarryAll” cargo aircraft and 35 V2000EM “Prosperity” passenger aircraft, with the first deliveries expected by the end of 2025. Falcon intends to use the fleet to support operations for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), signalling a shift towards low-emission, high-efficiency aerial support in the energy sector. AutoFlight’s cargo model, the CarryAll, has already achieved a full suite of airworthiness approvals from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) including the Type Certificate, Production Certificate and individual Airworthiness Certificates. The aircraft has also entered commercial service in China following delivery to Heli Chuangxing Intelligent, marking one of the first certified heavy-lift eVTOL deployments globally. The passenger-focused Prosperity model remains in its verification and regulatory testing phase. AutoFlight is working toward passenger-operation certification in multiple jurisdictions, a process that will determine the pace of Falcon’s full-scale rollout in the UAE. Falcon Aviation Services said the partnership aligns with its long-term strategy to modernise its mobility capabilities and expand its role in advanced air mobility (AAM) across the region. The company operates a broad portfolio of charter, offshore support, aircraft management and MRO services across the Middle East and Africa.

The record underlines the flag carrier’s strong recovery and growth trajectory as demand for air travel in the Gulf region continues to surge. The airline reported a 22 percent year-on-year increase in passenger numbers compared to August 2024. Its load factor reached 91%, up from 89% in the same period last year, reflecting higher seat occupancy across its network. Between January and August 2025, Etihad carried 14.2 million travellers, an 18 percent rise from the same period in 2024. The average load factor for the year so far has remained strong at 88%, positioning the airline among the most efficient operators in the Middle East. Etihad currently operates a fleet of 112 aircraft, a mix of wide-body and narrow-body jets serving global destinations. In August, the carrier added a new Airbus A321LR to its operations. This long-range narrow-body aircraft is equipped with wide-body-style premium cabins, aligning with Etihad’s strategy to improve comfort while maintaining operational flexibility. The new addition reflects the airline’s focus on sustainability and efficiency, offering the ability to serve medium-haul markets while preserving the premium service standards for which the carrier is known. Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves hailed the achievement as a defining moment in the airline’s history. He credited the milestone to passenger confidence, operational reliability, and the dedication of Etihad’s workforce. Neves emphasized that the record numbers signal not just growth, but also trust from global travellers choosing Etihad for both regional and long-haul journeys. Etihad’s breakthrough comes at a time when Gulf airlines are expanding aggressively to capture rising travel demand between Asia, Europe, and North America.
