More details are due”, Rekha Kandel, chief district officer of Khotang district told ANI. The critically injured passenger, identified in local reports as an elderly man, 65, a resident of Lalitpur named Kaji Bahadur, suffered injuries to his leg and eye and was immediately airlifted to Kathmandu for advanced medical treatment using another helicopter dispatched from the same operator. The helicopter was carrying the lifeless body of Manalakshmi Rai, 77, a resident of Balabensi who passed away a month ago in the UK. The body as reported was being brought by her relatives for cremation. Also on board the helicopter were the deceased’s husband, Dakmani Rai, 83, son Balkumar Rai, 53, daughter Laxmi Rai, 47 and 40-year-old Samala Rai. Officials confirmed that all passengers along with the pilot Sabin Thapa were safely rescued from the crash site.
