Andhra Pradesh: ₹1.92 crore has been obtained by the Andhra Pradesh government for a thorough feasibility study that would assess the construction of six new greenfield airports around the state. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is leading this program, which aims to establish the state as a major logistics and transportation center in the area while also boosting economic growth and regional connections, according to The New Indian Express
The proposed sites for the new airports include:
- Kuppam (1,501 acres)
- Srikakulam–Palasa (1,383 acres)
- Nagarjuna Sagar Area (1,670 acres)
- Ongole (657 acres)
- Tadepalligudem (1,123 acres)
- Tuni-Annaram (787 acres)
In a statement, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu underlined the significance of the project’s timely execution and highlighted how it may promote commerce, tourism, and industrial growth. The feasibility study will serve as the foundation for the subsequent stages of planning and construction, and the Andhra Pradesh Airport Development Corporation has been entrusted with accelerating it.
The state’s larger plan to update its aviation infrastructure includes this project. The state is moving on with other important airport projects, such the Bhogapuram and Dagadarthi airports, which would improve connectivity even further in addition to these six proposed airports.
Officials are also working on land acquisition and finishing comprehensive papers as the feasibility study moves further. The state expects the assessment to be finished soon, opening the door for the new airports’ eventual construction and growth.
