Farrukhabad, India: A private jet operated by Jetserve Aviation Pvt Ltd skidded off the runway during takeoff at Mohammadabad airstrip in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district on Thursday. All six people onboard, including two pilots and four passengers, escaped unhurt. The aircraft, registered as VT-DEZ, reportedly veered off the runway and came to rest in nearby grass after skidding for nearly 400 metres. The incident occurred around noon when the jet was preparing to depart from the unregulated airstrip. According to reports, those onboard included Ajay Arora, Deputy Managing Director of Woodpecker Greenagri Nutrients Pvt Ltd; Sumit Sharma of the State Bank of India; Rakesh Tikku, Vice President (Operations); and Manish Kumar Pandey, the company’s Uttar Pradesh project head. The flight was being piloted by Nasib Baman and Prateek Fernandes. While no injuries were reported, the aircraft sustained minor structural damage, particularly in the nose section, which appeared to have tilted into the soil following the runway excursion. Officials said that low tyre pressure may have contributed to the incident. According to NDTV, local authorities stated that the pilot was aware of reduced tyre pressure prior to takeoff but proceeded nonetheless. Officials from the district administration and the local police reached the scene shortly after the incident to inspect the site. The fire brigade was not informed in advance about the scheduled flight, and there were claims that the required treasury fees for airstrip use had not been deposited. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the runway excursion and assess whether standard safety procedures were followed. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expected to review technical and operational aspects once the aircraft is recovered.

New Delhi, India: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of ₹20 lakh on IndiGo, India’s largest airline, for alleged lapses in its pilot training programme. The regulator found that the airline had used unqualified flight simulators to train pilots operating flights to Category C aerodromes, which are considered challenging due to terrain and approach conditions. According to the filing, the alleged non-compliance relates to the airline’s “failure to use qualified simulators for pilot training at Category C aerodromes.” These airports include Calicut, Mangaluru, Srinagar, Port Blair, Leh, Aizawl, Shimla, and international locations such as Kabul and Kathmandu. Aviation experts said that Category C airports require pilots to undergo specific simulator training replicating the topography and terrain of those airfields. “A qualified simulator must realistically depict the local geography, altitude, and approach pattern. Using a generic simulator can affect pilot readiness for critical airports like Leh or Calicut,” said Captain Anil S. Rao, President of the All India Pilots Association, in comments to The New Indian Express. In its statement, IndiGo said the fine would have no material impact on its operations and that it would contest the DGCA order before the appropriate appellate authority. “We remain committed to maintaining the highest training standards and operational safety,” the airline said. The DGCA’s order, dated September 26, 2025, stated that IndiGo failed to comply with simulator certification standards while conducting recurrent training for pilots assigned to operate at high-risk airports. The penalty was disclosed by IndiGo’s parent company, InterGlobe Aviation, in its filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The airline has outlined specific guidelines to ensure compliance and passenger safety: Prohibited Usage: Passengers are not allowed to use any power bank to charge devices during flights. Carry-On Allowance: Travelers may carry one power bank per person with a capacity under 100 watt-hours (Wh). Charging Restrictions: Power banks cannot be recharged using aircraft power outlets. Storage Guidelines: Power banks must be stored in the seat pocket or under the seat, and are not permitted in overhead compartments. Checked Baggage: Power banks remain strictly prohibited in checked luggage. Emirates confirmed that in-seat charging ports remain available on all aircraft. Passengers are advised to fully charge their devices prior to departure, especially on long-haul flights. Lithium-ion batteries, commonly used in power banks, have been linked to thermal runaway incidents, where batteries can overheat or catch fire if damaged, overcharged, or improperly handled. Although such events are rare, Emirates cited passenger safety as the primary reason for the new restriction. Emirates’ decision aligns with a global trend in the aviation industry toward stricter regulations on portable lithium-ion batteries. According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft took off from Miami Executive Airport at 1:48 PM and circled over the Everglades before encountering issues that led to the crash. Both individuals were uninjured but became stranded in the challenging terrain of the wetlands. They managed to use their cellphones to send their coordinates to emergency responders, enabling rescue teams to locate and extract them safely. Fire rescue units responded to the 12800 block of Southwest 145th Avenue, where the plane had flipped upside down. Both individuals climbed out of the wreckage and stood on the wing while they used their cellphone to send their coordinates to responding officials. They were transported to Miami Executive Airport after being safely removed from the remote area and checked out by paramedics. The student pilot was on a test flight when the aircraft encountered problems that led to the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the crash.

REACH Air Medical Chopper Crashes On Highway 50 in Sacramento Injuring Three Crew
