Type Rating Training
To fly an Airplane with Turbine engines, one needs to be trained on the type of the aircraft to be flown. The reason for such specific training also known as Type rating training is required to familiarize through complex aircraft systems and its performance. Type training is a step that comes once you have your Pilot license in hand which allows you to fly as a pilot in command. Type training is required for aircraft ranging from Turbo prop to Turbofan powered aircraft. The training is provided by organizations approved to do the same. Such organizations are commonly known as Type Rating Training Organizations (TRTO). Type rating training for entry level candidates is for Second in command training.
Type rating training comprises of Ground classes, flying on full flight simulators and check. The course spans around 6-8 weeks and cost around US$ 20,000. However, Q for popular airline aircrafts such as Airbus 320 or Boeing 737 is pretty long. As mentioned, training is imparted on Full Flight Simulator and not on real aircraft since any scenarios required for training can be simulated on simulator and surely a cost saver as well.
