Hamburg, Germany: Eurowings Airbus A319 operating flight EW7462 was forced to make a precautionary return to Hamburg Airport shortly after departure on April 10, following a reported engine-related issue, prompting a temporary suspension of airport operations. The aircraft had departed Hamburg bound for London when the crew identified a technical malfunction, believed to be linked to one of the engines. The pilots followed standard safety procedures, entering a holding pattern over northern Germany reportedly near the Bremen-Oldenburg region before deciding to return to the departure airport. The aircraft landed safely approximately 40 to 60 minutes after takeoff. Emergency services, including fire and rescue teams, were deployed as a precaution and remained on standby during the landing. The aircraft subsequently came to a stop on a taxiway, where it was secured. There were more than 130 passengers and crew members onboard. No injuries were reported, and passengers disembarked normally using mobile stairs. Airport authorities briefly halted arrivals and departures during the incident, causing short-term operational disruption. Eurowings confirmed that the return was a precautionary measure and emphasized that safety was never compromised. The airline arranged alternative travel for affected passengers while technical teams initiated inspections of the aircraft. While initial reports indicate a possible engine warning or malfunction, the exact cause remains under investigation.

The aircraft, registered VT-JRF, took off from Indira Gandhi International Airport early Thursday morning and remained airborne for nearly seven hours before safely landing back in Delhi. According to airline and regulatory sources, the flight crew reported non-specific vibrations and unusual noise, particularly from the aircraft’s belly or cargo hold area, while the aircraft was cruising over Oman/Saudi Arabian airspace. Despite normal cockpit instrument readings, the pilots opted for a precautionary return in line with safety protocols. Air India confirmed that the decision was taken “in an abundance of caution” after a suspected technical issue was identified. The aircraft had departed Delhi around 5:42–6:13 AM and returned at approximately 12:30–1:20 PM, after covering nearly 3,000+ km before turning back. Air India confirmed that the aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew onboard were unharmed. The airline stated that the aircraft is undergoing extensive technical inspections, and reiterated that passenger safety remains its top priority. Passengers were provided assistance, including refreshments and arrangements for onward travel. This is the second time in less than two weeks that aircraft VT-JRF has experienced similar issues. On March 15, the same aircraft, operating flight AI102 (New York–Delhi), was diverted to Shannon, Ireland, after passengers reported floorboard vibrations and noise from below the cabin. Around 300 passengers were onboard during that incident, and the aircraft landed safely. India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has launched a formal investigation into the incident. Officials from the airworthiness and air safety directorates are examining the aircraft and the recurring nature of the issue.

The double-deck superjumbo, registered as G-XLEK, departed Heathrow at approximately 11:43 GMT on Wednesday for the scheduled transatlantic service. Around four hours into the planned 10-hour journey, the flight began holding over northern UK airspace near Scotland and released fuel over a remote area off the west coast, a standard aviation practice to safely reduce landing weight. Flight tracking services showed BA285 circling at multiple flight levels for more than an hour before crews initiated the return to Heathrow. During this period the aircraft also became one of the most-tracked flights globally on FlightRadar24, highlighting the unusual nature of the diversion. British Airways subsequently confirmed the aircraft touched back down at Heathrow later the same day without declaring an emergency. In a statement to media, the airline said the diversion was due to a technical issue with the aircraft’s communication system and stressed that all on board landed safely with no injuries reported. Passengers affected by the disruption are being assisted with rebooking and ground support. The airline has apologised to customers for the inconvenience and encouraged travellers to check flight status information via official channels. A few days ago on December 8, a British Airways Airbus A320 flight from Edinburgh to London declared a mid-air emergency and returned safely to Edinburgh Airport earlier this week, after pilots reported a landing gear malfunction shortly after departure. Flight BA1443, bound for Heathrow, issued the internationally recognised 7700 emergency squawk code minutes after takeoff when the aircraft’s landing gear failed to retract properly, prompting the crew to hold over Stirling while troubleshooting before returning and landing without incident. The unscheduled return led Edinburgh Airport to temporarily suspend incoming and outgoing flights, with several services diverted to nearby airports during the disruption. No injuries were reported, and British Airways apologised to affected passengers as operations resumed after the technical issue was resolved.
