Los Angeles, United States: A DHL Boeing 737-800 freighter suffered a brake-system malfunction during landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on August 26, 2026, causing four tires to blow and a fire to erupt around its main landing gear. The two crew members aboard the aircraft were not injured. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800BDSF registered as N326FL, was operated by Kalitta Charters II on behalf of DHL as Flight K5-1814 from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Los Angeles. The freighter landed on Runway 25L at approximately 11:10 p.m. local time. Video footage shows the aircraft touching down before white smoke began emerging from the main landing-gear area. Within seconds, several loud pops and flashes were visible, followed by flames and sparks beneath the aircraft as it continued its landing roll. The aircraft subsequently slowed and stopped on the runway while fire crews moved toward it. Footage showed flames concentrated around the landing-gear and tire area as emergency responders began extinguishing the fire. During the incident, the flight crew communicated with air traffic control about the braking problem. In the recorded radio exchange, one of the pilots said, “I don’t know if we blew a tire, but it feels like the brakes locked up.” The crew also advised the tower that the anti-skid system was inoperative and that the brakes may have locked up, with the crew concerned that some of the tires could have been damaged. The Federal Aviation Administration said preliminary information indicated that the aircraft’s brakes malfunctioned during landing and that four tires were blown. The agency has launched an investigation into the incident, meaning the precise mechanical cause has not yet been established. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded after receiving a report of an aircraft fire at approximately 11:06 p.m. The department deployed 13 units to the scene. Firefighters initially received information indicating an engine fire, but after reaching the aircraft, they determined that the problem involved the landing gear and brakes. The LAFD said the left main landing gear caught fire and that the flames spread to the tires on that side. Firefighters used water to extinguish the fire, and the aircraft's two occupants were able to leave the aircraft without assistance. No injuries were reported. The final LAFD unit left the scene at approximately 12:44 a.m. “The cause of the mechanical failure remains under investigation by the appropriate federal and company authorities,” the Los Angeles Fire Department said. DHL described the event as an “apparent brake system issue” that resulted in a brake overheat. The company confirmed that everyone aboard was safe and said the aircraft operator was working to move the disabled freighter so that it could undergo further inspection and assessment. “There were no injuries, and all crew members are safe,” DHL said. The incident temporarily closed Runway 25L as emergency personnel and maintenance crews dealt with the disabled aircraft. Air traffic control also kept other aircraft clear of the runway while the emergency response was underway. The aircraft remained on the ground at LAX into the following morning while arrangements were made to move it from the runway and assess the damage. N326FL is a Boeing 737-800 that was manufactured in 2001 and later converted from passenger service to the BDSF freighter configuration. The conversion was completed in December 2022. The aircraft was operating in DHL livery under Kalitta Charters II, a U.S. cargo carrier. The available evidence establishes the sequence of events as a normal landing followed by a suspected brake lockup or malfunction, tire failures, a fire involving the main landing gear, the aircraft coming to a stop on Runway 25L, and the subsequent response by LAX emergency crews. However, investigators have not yet identified the specific component or technical failure responsible for the brake malfunction.

Minneapolis, United States: A United Airlines flight from Chicago to Minneapolis was met by law enforcement after a passenger allegedly attempted to breach the cockpit during the flight, triggering a major security response. The incident occurred on May 29, aboard a United Airlines service traveling from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) to Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). During the flight, a passenger allegedly became disruptive and attempted to move toward the flight deck area, triggering an immediate response from cabin crew and flight personnel. Flight attendants and crew members reportedly intervened to prevent access to the cockpit, while the flight crew coordinated with air traffic control and law enforcement authorities. The aircraft subsequently landed safely, where police and security personnel met the flight upon arrival. Reports indicate that the situation prompted the activation of a heightened security response, with references made to a "Level 4" threat classification. However, U.S. aviation authorities and United Airlines have not publicly issued detailed statements explaining the specific classification or confirming the exact security designation. No injuries were immediately reported among the 147 passengers and six crew members and authorities took the passenger into custody following the aircraft's arrival. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing. A Level 4 threat generally refers to a severe security situation that requires immediate operational response and enhanced coordination among flight crews, airport authorities, law enforcement agencies, and federal security personnel. Such alerts may be associated with potential unlawful interference with flight operations, attempted cockpit intrusion, credible hijacking concerns, or situations that could pose a direct threat to aircraft safety. The exact terminology and classification systems can vary between agencies, airlines, airports, and security organizations. Earlier in May, United Airlines Flight 1837 operating to Newark Liberty International Airport experienced a security incident after a passenger allegedly attacked a flight attendant and attempted to gain access to the flight deck area. The aircraft landed safely and the passenger was detained by authorities. A separate United Airlines flight operating from Newark to Guatemala City was also forced to divert after a passenger allegedly attempted to open a cabin door during flight, prompting an emergency response and law enforcement action upon landing. Authorities have not announced whether federal charges will be filed in connection with the latest Chicago-Minneapolis incident. Investigators are expected to review crew reports, passenger statements, onboard security procedures, and any available cabin surveillance evidence as part of the inquiry. Muscat, Oman: An Air India Express Boeing 737-800 operating flight IX712 from Muscat to Kannur suffered significant damage during a nighttime takeoff attempt at Muscat International Airport on May 15 after the aircraft reportedly lined up with runway edge lights instead of the runway centreline, triggering a high-speed rejected takeoff and a formal accident investigation by Omani authorities. The incident came to public attention nearly nine days later, on May 24, after regulatory sources in Oman confirmed details of the occurrence. The 18-year-old Boeing 737-800 had been preparing to depart Muscat for the approximately three-hour service to Kannur on the night of May 15. During lineup for departure from Runway 26L, the aircraft allegedly tracked the right-hand runway edge lights rather than positioning itself on the runway centreline. As the aircraft accelerated for takeoff at approximately 9:10 pm local time after entering the runway via taxiway E7, the Boeing 737 struck multiple runway edge lights, destroying several of them during the takeoff roll. Flight crew reportedly aborted the takeoff after hearing a loud bang and receiving cockpit warnings. The aircraft sustained substantial damage during the incident. Reports stated that the nose landing gear was damaged, at least one tyre deflated, and hydraulic system leaks were observed after the rejected takeoff. Aviation sources also indicated that debris from shattered runway lights may have been ingested into the engines, potentially causing additional engine damage. The aircraft became disabled on the runway following the rejected takeoff, forcing passengers and crew to disembark directly onto the runway surface while emergency teams responded. However, authorities have not officially confirmed all operational details surrounding the evacuation sequence. The aircraft has reportedly remained grounded in Muscat since the incident while technical inspections and investigative work continue. Oman’s Air Accidents Investigation Sector (AAIS) has classified the occurrence as an “accident” rather than a minor incident, underlining the seriousness of the event. Investigators are now examining cockpit procedures, runway lighting conditions, pilot situational awareness, airport surface markings, and other operational factors that may have contributed to the alignment error during nighttime operations.

Florida, United States: An Allegiant Air flight bound for Atlantic City was forced to return to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Monday morning after the crew received an indication related to cabin pressurization during climb, prompting medical evaluations for multiple passengers and crew members. According to airline officials and emergency responders, Allegiant Air Flight 3912 departed Fort Lauderdale at approximately 9:20 a.m. local time for Atlantic City International Airport with 187 people onboard, including passengers and crew. The aircraft involved was identified as a Boeing 737-8200, part of the Boeing 737 MAX family. Shortly after departure, the flight crew received an indication associated with cabin pressurization while the aircraft was climbing. Allegiant spokesperson Sonya Padgett said the pilots leveled the aircraft and elected to return to Fort Lauderdale “out of an abundance of caution” and in accordance with established procedures. The aircraft landed safely and normally back at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where passengers deplaned at the gate. Following the landing, medical personnel from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Rescue evaluated passengers and crew members as a precaution. Battalion Chief Michael Kane said paramedics treated a total of 13 people, most of whom complained of ear pain and related discomfort commonly associated with pressurization problems. Three individuals were transported to a hospital for further evaluation. Authorities said no serious injuries were immediately reported. Some passengers complained of ringing in their ears and head discomfort after the aircraft returned to the airport. Flight tracking data cited by regional media showed the aircraft performed a series of turns before eventually landing back at Fort Lauderdale around 11:08 a.m. Allegiant later rescheduled the flight, which subsequently departed Fort Lauderdale for Atlantic City at approximately 3:02 p.m., according to the airline’s operational data.

Hong Kong, China: A Malaysia Airlines passenger flight bound for Kuala Lumpur was forced to abort takeoff at Hong Kong International Airport on 11 May 2026 after the crew encountered a technical issue during the takeoff roll, which was later followed by a tyre burst. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew. The incident involved Malaysia Airlines Flight MH079, operated by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The aircraft had begun its scheduled departure from Hong Kong around 8:45 a.m. local time. According to airport and aviation reports, the takeoff appeared normal initially, but shortly after acceleration began, the flight crew detected an abnormal condition accompanied by a loud bang and strong vibration, prompting an immediate decision to reject the takeoff. The pilots executed a Rejected Takeoff (RTO) procedure and brought the aircraft to a controlled stop on the runway. During the deceleration phase, one of the main landing gear tyres reportedly burst. Early reports indicate that the tyre failure occurred after the takeoff was aborted rather than being the initial cause of the rejection. Emergency response teams were deployed immediately as the aircraft came to a stop. The aircraft was safely brought under control and later vacated the active runway with assistance. It was subsequently towed to a parking bay for inspection. All passengers and crew disembarked safely after the aircraft returned to the apron, and no injuries were reported. Following the incident, the south runway at Hong Kong International Airport was temporarily closed for inspection and safety checks. The closure resulted in minor operational disruptions, including short delays and adjustments to flight movements. Normal runway operations resumed shortly after clearance from airport authorities. The Airport Authority of Hong Kong confirmed that the incident involved a technical issue during the takeoff phase and that emergency services responded promptly. Authorities also confirmed that the tyre burst occurred during deceleration after the rejected takeoff, and not as a primary trigger before the decision to abort departure. The aircraft involved was identified as a Boeing 737-800 operating Malaysia Airlines Flight MH079 from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The flight was later cancelled, and the aircraft underwent initial engineering inspection to determine the cause of the malfunction. Preliminary aviation assessments suggest that investigations are focused on possible landing gear stress during the rejected takeoff sequence or a technical tyre failure. The aircraft’s braking and safety systems functioned as intended, preventing further escalation of the incident. Malaysia Airlines has stated that the aircraft has been withdrawn from service pending detailed inspection and engineering evaluation. Aviation authorities and technical teams are continuing to examine the incident as part of standard safety procedures following a rejected takeoff event.

Palma de Mallorca, Spain: An Air Europa Boeing 737-800 suffered a landing incident at Palma de Mallorca Airport after an earlier bird strike reportedly damaged the aircraft’s nose landing gear steering system, leading to initial findings that claimed the jet had “lost a wheel” during landing. The incident occurred on May 8 during Air Europa flight UX6079 from Madrid to Palma de Mallorca. The aircraft involved has been identified as a Boeing 737-800 registered EC-MPG. The aircraft sustained a bird strike while on approach to Runway 06L at Palma Airport. The strike reportedly damaged the nose gear steering mechanism before touchdown. The touchdown itself initially appeared normal. However, during the rollout phase, the aircraft gradually veered to the right before exiting the runway area at low speed and coming to a stop near a high-speed turnoff. Early local media reports stated that one of the landing gear wheels detached during landing, with photographs showing the aircraft leaning to one side on the runway surrounded by emergency vehicles. The visible wheel and tyre damage was likely a consequence of the earlier bird-strike-related steering failure rather than an independent mechanical wheel failure. However, authorities have not yet released an official technical conclusion, and the exact sequence of damage remains under investigation. Emergency services responded immediately after the aircraft came to a stop. Passengers were temporarily unable to disembark normally while firefighters and ground personnel secured the aircraft. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew. Several prominent figures from Mallorca’s tourism industry were reportedly onboard the flight after attending an event in Madrid, according to local Spanish media. The aircraft remained grounded for several hours while maintenance inspections were carried out. The aircraft subsequently returned to service after repairs and inspections were completed.

Manchester, United Kingdom: A Jet2 passenger aircraft bound for the Greek island of Crete was forced to carry out an emergency landing at Manchester Airport after it was struck by a flock of geese shortly after take-off, leading to a precautionary diversion and a rapid response from the flight crew. The incident occurred during the initial climb phase of the flight, when the aircraft encountered a bird strike involving geese. Due to the size and potential impact of such birds, the crew immediately assessed the situation for any possible engine or structural damage before deciding to return to the departure airport as a safety precaution. Following standard aviation procedures, the pilots declared an emergency and coordinated with air traffic control to prioritise an immediate return. The aircraft safely landed without further incident, and no injuries were reported among passengers or crew on board. Emergency services were placed on standby as a precautionary measure in line with airport emergency response protocols. However, their intervention was not required after the aircraft came to a safe stop on the runway. Passengers were safely disembarked after landing, and airline staff arranged assistance for onward travel. Jet2 later confirmed that the decision to return was taken strictly in the interest of safety, emphasising that precautionary diversions are standard practice following suspected bird strikes. Bird strikes involving geese are considered more serious than smaller bird impacts due to their size and weight, particularly during take-off and landing when aircraft are operating at lower altitudes and higher thrust settings. In such scenarios, even a single impact can require a full technical inspection before the aircraft is cleared to fly again. The aircraft involved is expected to undergo a detailed engineering inspection to assess any potential damage to engines or external components before being returned to service. Jet2 has maintained that safety remains its highest priority, and that its flight crews are trained to respond immediately to any abnormal situation in accordance with strict operational procedures. Authorities have not released further technical details regarding the extent of any damage, and routine investigations are expected to follow standard aviation safety protocols.

California, United States: A scheduled trans‑Pacific trip by Delta Air Lines ended with an emergency diversion on the morning of November 19 after the crew detected a serious engine fault, authorities said. Flight DL 357 departed from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (Honolulu) at approximately 11 :10 p.m. HST the previous evening, bound for Salt Lake City International Airport. On board were 212 passengers and eight crew members. Around four hours into the flight, cruising at 35,000 feet over open ocean, the flight crew reported a fault in one of the aircraft’s two engines and initiated a shutdown of that engine as a precaution. The crew declared an emergency, activating transponder code 7700, to secure priority handling from air‑traffic control. With the fault confirmed and the aircraft operating on a single engine, the decision was made to divert to the nearest suitable airport. The crew elected to land at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), where full emergency and rescue resources could be readily mobilised. The aircraft touched down on Runway 7R just prior to 7:00 a.m. PST and taxied to Gate 3A in Terminal 3. A full fire‑and‑rescue vehicle presence met the aircraft on arrival. Emergency responders carried out an external inspection. No visible structural damage or fire was reported, and all passengers and crew disembarked safely, with no injuries reported. In the aftermath, the Federal Aviation Administration﹙FAA) opened an investigation into the incident, examining the engine fault and reviewing whether maintenance or manufacturing factors played a role. Initial commentary suggests the fault is believed to stem from a mechanical anomaly rather than a maintenance‑shortcoming.
