Adelaide, Australia: A fatal light aircraft crash at Parafield Airport on April 29 has left two people onboard dead and at least 11 individuals injured on the ground after the aircraft struck a hangar during a landing attempt and erupted into flames. The incident triggered a major emergency response, with authorities launching an investigation into the cause of the crash. Further details have emerged following the fatal light aircraft crash at Parafield Airport, with investigators and authorities providing new insights into the sequence of events, victims, and aircraft operation. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) confirmed the aircraft involved was a Diamond DA42 Twin Star conducting a training flight at the time of the accident. The flight was engaged in circuit training, a standard procedure involving repeated take-offs and landings. According to investigators, the aircraft had completed multiple circuits before the crash occurred during the approach phase. Authorities confirmed that two occupants were onboard a student pilot and a flight instructor and both were killed. Reports indicate the student pilot was a Japanese national, while the instructor was an Australian national, Police further confirmed the victims were men aged 24 and 29 respectively. Preliminary findings suggest that after turning onto final approach, the aircraft descended steeply and impacted terrain before colliding with a hangar, leading to a high-intensity fuel-fed fire. The aircraft was destroyed on impact. Data indicates no distress call was made prior to the crash, and investigators are now examining wreckage, flight path data, and operational factors. According to aviation database records from Aviation Safety Network, the aircraft was associated with Flight Training Adelaide (FTA), one of the major flight training organisations operating at Parafield Airport. In an official statement, Adelaide Airport Limited, which manages Parafield Airport, said emergency services responded immediately to the incident. The airport operator confirmed the crash involved a light aircraft impacting a hangar, resulting in fatalities and multiple injuries on the ground. The statement added that the airport was closed temporarily, emergency protocols were activated, and support was being provided to those affected. The airport authority also stated it is cooperating fully with investigators. Initial reports indicated that at least 11 people were injured in the crash; however, subsequent official updates clarified that 10 people were injured on the ground, including one with life-threatening burns, two with serious injuries, one with minor injuries, and six affected by smoke inhalation. The ATSB has deployed a team of specialists to the crash site to conduct a detailed examination, focusing on aircraft systems, engine performance, flight path, and human factors. Investigators will also analyse maintenance records and training procedures as part of the probe. A preliminary report is expected in the coming weeks, while a final report may take several months.

Mumbai, India: A minor fire broke out at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport’s Terminal 1 in Mumbai on the evening of April 9, 2026, leading to smoke accumulation inside parts of the terminal and temporary disruption for passengers. The incident occurred around 6:10 PM and was traced to an electrical short circuit in the ground-floor utility and power distribution area near the 1B section of the terminal. According to airport and civic officials, the fire originated in electrical cable trays and power supply installations located in a restricted service zone of Terminal 1. The affected area is understood to house critical electrical infrastructure, including wiring ducts and distribution panels. The blaze did not spread beyond the utility section but generated heavy smoke, which quickly seeped into adjoining passenger areas. Thick smoke was reported across parts of the terminal building, including nearby check-in and movement zones, causing brief confusion among passengers and congestion at several points. While the fire remained confined to the technical section, visibility in some areas of the terminal was affected, prompting precautionary movement restrictions within Terminal 1. The airport’s emergency response system was activated immediately, with on-site fire and rescue teams responding first, followed by multiple units from the Mumbai Fire Brigade. Firefighting operations focused on isolating the electrical source and preventing the spread of flames through cable networks. Officials later confirmed that the fire was brought under control within minutes, while cooling and safety checks continued for several hours before the situation was fully normalised. Authorities classified the incident as a minor or Level-1 fire. Preliminary assessments indicate that the cause was a short circuit in electrical wiring and power systems. The fire was fully extinguished by around 9:20 PM, after thorough cooling operations and inspection of affected infrastructure. Despite airport authorities stating that overall flight operations remained largely unaffected and runway movements continued normally, the incident led to short-term operational impact during the evening peak period. Around 23 flights, including those operated by IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Star Air, scheduled between 7 pm and 9 pm, were delayed, according to officials. The delays were mainly attributed to temporary ground handling constraints, including passenger movement, baggage processing, and gate allocation, as emergency protocols were implemented in the affected terminal area. Airport officials also confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported. Emergency protocols ensured that passengers were kept away from affected areas, and no evacuation of the entire terminal was required. Key systems in the affected zone, including electrical supply and certain communication infrastructure, were temporarily shut down as a precaution and restored after safety clearance.

Drone Strike Triggers Fire At Kuwait International Airport Amid Escalating Gulf Crisis SEO DES: Kuwait has reported multiple recent attacks, including strikes on radar systems & fuel tanks, reflecting rising threats to critical aviation infrastructure SOCIAL: A drone strike hit a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport in Kuwait City, Kuwait, triggering a fire that was quickly contained with no casualties and limited damage. The incident is part of a series of recent drone and missile attacks linked to escalating Iran-U.S.-Israel tensions, with authorities continuing investigations as regional security risks intensify. Kuwait has reported multiple similar attacks in recent weeks, including strikes on radar systems and fuel facilities, reflecting growing threats to critical aviation infrastructure. The situation reflects a broader regional escalation, with Gulf nations facing increased aerial threats and rising concerns over aviation safety and fuel supply stability. Kuwait City, Kuwait: A drone strike targeting fuel storage infrastructure at Kuwait International Airport triggered a fire on Wednesday, marking the latest escalation in a widening regional conflict linked to the ongoing Iran-U.S.-Israel tensions. According to Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority, the attack struck a fuel tank at the airport, causing a blaze that was swiftly contained by emergency response teams. Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported, and initial assessments indicated that the damage was limited to infrastructure. Emergency protocols were immediately activated, with firefighting units responding to the scene and bringing the situation under control within a short period. Officials have not yet disclosed the origin of the drone or the group responsible, and investigations remain ongoing. Agency spokesman Abdullah Al-Rajhi said the impact was “limited,” confirming that firefighters were continuing operations to fully extinguish the blaze. Preliminary assessments indicated that the attack caused only material damage. The incident is not isolated. Kuwait has faced repeated drone and missile attacks in recent weeks, as regional tensions intensified following coordinated military actions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Wednesday’s strike is the latest in a string of attacks targeting Kuwait’s main airport since the conflict intensified on February 28. Earlier incidents include a March 14 drone strike on radar systems and a March 8 attack that damaged fuel storage facilities. A separate strike on a passenger terminal had left several people with minor injuries. Kuwait’s military has repeatedly reported “waves of hostile drones” entering its airspace, with air defense systems actively intercepting incoming threats. The attack comes amid a broader escalation in the Middle East, where Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting the U.S.-linked assets and allied countries across the Gulf, including Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. Kuwait, which hosts U.S. military installations, has increasingly found itself exposed to retaliatory strikes as the conflict expands beyond its initial theaters. In recent weeks, the country has also reported casualties among security personnel and damage to infrastructure linked to ongoing aerial attacks, reflecting the persistent threat environment. Globally, the conflict has begun to impact aviation operations and fuel supply chains, with rising jet fuel prices and early signs of disruptions to flight networks in parts of Asia and beyond. Kuwaiti authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage and are working to determine the source and intent behind the attack. No group has officially claimed responsibility so far.
