These measures can include intervention by cabin crew, documentation of misconduct, removal of the passenger at the next landing point, cancellation of remaining flight sectors, and potential referral to authorities in serious cases. The revised policy applies broadly to the use of smartphones, digital cameras, and wearable recording devices such as smart glasses and action cameras, which are increasingly used for discreet recording onboard. While the restriction is focused on crew members and airline staff, passengers remain permitted to capture general travel content such as cabin interiors, personal selfies, and meals, provided no identifiable crew member is recorded without permission. Industry reports suggest the policy shift is being driven by a combination of rising privacy concerns and the growing influence of social media onboard aircraft. The widespread availability of high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi has enabled passengers to livestream interactions in real time, increasing the risk of incidents being broadcast without context or consent. Airlines, including British Airways have also faced increasing instances of cabin crew being recorded during service interactions, disputes, or operational disruptions, with such clips frequently circulating online. BA’s updated stance aligns with a broader industry trend where carriers are strengthening protections for frontline staff against unauthorised recording and potential online exposure. According to airline confirmation, the flight was scheduled to land in Hubballi around 4:30 pm but encountered deteriorating weather conditions during descent. The aircraft reportedly circled the Hubballi airspace for an extended period as pilots assessed landing feasibility. When conditions failed to improve, the crew diverted the flight to Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, where it landed safely. Passengers onboard experienced significant anxiety during the prolonged airborne phase, with reports and visual accounts suggesting distress inside the cabin as the aircraft continued holding over the region. According to FlightAware data report, airlines cancelled 2,178 flights and delayed 29,057 others nationwide as of Friday afternoon, as snow, freezing rain and strong winds reduced airport capacity and created hazardous operating conditions. The disruption was most severe across the Midwest and Northeast, where deteriorating weather conditions led to ground delays, de-icing backlogs and precautionary cancellations. Major airports in the New York metropolitan area, including John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA), were among the hardest hit, accounting for a significant share of the cancellations. Several major U.S. carriers, including JetBlue Airways, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and United Airlines, were forced to adjust schedules as the storm intensified. Airlines issued travel advisories and waived change and rebooking fees for affected passengers, citing safety concerns and limited runway availability. JetBlue Airways topped the list with 225 cancelled flights, followed by Delta Air Lines with 186 cancellations. Republic Airways canceled 157 flights, while 146 were canceled by American Airlines and 97 by United Airlines. Due to winter storm Devin, JetBlue has canceled approximately 350 flights today and tomorrow, primarily in the Northeast where the airline has a large operation,” a JetBlue spokesperson said. The National Weather Service (NWS) warned that the storm system could produce heavy snowfall, sleet and icy conditions across multiple states, significantly impacting both air and ground transportation. Officials urged travelers to monitor weather updates and avoid non-essential travel where possible. State authorities in parts of the Northeast activated emergency measures, while transportation agencies warned of slippery roads and reduced visibility. The combination of adverse weather and high holiday passenger volumes led to long queues at airport terminals, with many travelers facing extended wait times and limited rebooking options. Aviation analysts noted that winter storms typically trigger a ripple effect across airline networks, as aircraft and crews become displaced, compounding delays even at airports not directly affected by severe weather.
