Singapore: A British Airways (BA) crew member has been arrested in Singapore over allegations of sexually assaulting a fellow flight attendant. The incident reportedly took place after a night out between flights.
According to The Sun, the crew member allegedly assaulted the stewardess following an alcohol-fueled gathering. Singaporean authorities arrested the suspect, who is now in custody.
British Airways has sent senior managers to Singapore to assist.
Two female crew members linked to the case have been flown back to the UK.
The airline stated: “This is a matter for the police, and it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
In Singapore, rape convictions involving victims over 14 years old can lead to up to 20 years in prison, fines, or corporal punishment.
Earlier in February, a BA pilot and a steward were suspended for alleged drug use during a layover in Singapore. Another BA pilot is facing legal action for allegedly assaulting a stewardess during off-duty hours.
The case raises concerns about crew conduct during international layovers.
