Pune, December 9, 2024 — A horrific car accident in Indapur, Pune, has killed two student pilots and badly wounded two others. Around 3:15 a.m. on the Baramati-Bhigwan route, their SUV went off course and collided with a tree and a concrete pipeline.
The victims, all 21, were students at the Redbird Flight Training Academy in Baramati. The deceased have been identified as Aditya Kanase of Mumbai and Takshu Sharma of Delhi. The critically injured survivors, Krishna Ishu Singh of Bihar (who was driving) and Chesta Bishnoi of Rajasthan, are currently receiving treatment in a local private hospital.
Initial police investigations found that the group were intoxicated from alcohol at a party at their accommodation before leaving for a late-night drive. The driver apparently lost control of his car on a tight bend while driving at high speeds.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Rathord stated, “The vehicle was speeding towards Bhigwan when the driver lost control. Preliminary findings suggest alcohol consumption, and our investigations are ongoing.”
The authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the collision, while the community mourns the death of two bright young lives.
