Bengaluru, India: The 15th edition of Aero India commenced with a series of high-profile displays, showcasing the capabilities of the Indian Air Force and advancements in domestic defense technology.
“Aero India 2025, a confluence of critical & frontier technologies, will provide a platform to further strengthen relations among like-minded countries based on mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual benefit to deal with today’s uncertainties” said Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh while inaugurating the 15th edition of Aero India at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru, Karnataka on February 10, 2025.
“Lasting peace can only be achieved if nations become stronger together and work for a Better World Order” he said.
The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) performed precision maneuvers, creating formations in the colors of the national flag.
Air Chief Marshal A P Singh led the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) in the opening sortie, demonstrating its agility and advanced avionics.
A significant highlight was the ‘Shakti’ formation, featuring women pilots flying Rafale jets, highlighting the Indian Air Force’s increasing role for women in combat aviation.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) showcased its Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), emphasizing its versatility in military operations.
For the first time, the world’s most advanced fifth-generation fighter aircraft, the United States’ F-35 Lightning II and Russia’s Su-57 Felon were seen together at Aero India, with the Su-57 making its debut appearance in India. Two F-35A variants were presented in both static and aerial displays.
The F-35 Lightning II, developed by Lockheed Martin, is a fifth-generation stealth fighter designed for multirole operations, featuring advanced sensor fusion, stealth capabilities, and networked warfare systems.
The Su-57 Felon, developed by Sukhoi, is a twin-engine stealth fighter designed for air superiority and ground attack missions, equipped with super-maneuverability and advanced avionics.
Speaking to Interfax, Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev stated: “An undisclosed foreign customer will begin receiving Su-57s this year” without providing further details.
Aero India 2025 runs from February 10-14 at Air Force Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru.
