Germany: Lufthansa Group has announced on Wednesday, its plans to strengthen its workforce by recruiting 10,000 new employees in 2025. This extensive hiring campaign is part of the company’s strategy to support its global operations and maintain its standing as a leader in the aviation industry.

The recruitment will focus on a range of roles vital to the group’s operations. These include over 2,000 flight attendants, 1,400 ground operations staff, and 1,300 technical experts. Administrative roles account for 1,200 of the new positions, while around 800 openings will be for pilots. With more than half of these positions based in Germany, the group emphasizes its commitment to enhancing local operations while maintaining its international presence.

Lufthansa Airlines plans to continue focusing on the Turnaround efficiency initiative in 2025, hiring fewer staff than in 2024. The current aim is to hire around 1,200 individuals over the next 12 months, with an emphasis on operations.

The Lufthansa Group, one of Europe’s largest aviation companies, was founded in 1953 and is headquartered in Germany. The group operates several airlines, including Swiss (LX), Austrian Airlines (OS), Brussels Airlines (SN), and Eurowings (EW).

Key subsidiaries within the Lufthansa Group are also gearing up for substantial recruitment. Lufthansa Technik, a provider of technical services for commercial aircraft, providing support to operators and other parties across the world, plans to hire over 2,000 employees. Austrian Airlines and Eurowings are each targeting an additional 700 recruits.

Michael Niggemann, Executive Board Member for Human Resources and Legal Affairs at Lufthansa, highlighted the company’s appeal as an employer, stating:

“The Lufthansa Group continues to offer diverse job profiles and career opportunities. In 2024 alone, we welcomed over 13,000 new colleagues. This hiring initiative reflects our commitment to growth and operational excellence.”

Over the last three years, it has onboarded more than 30,000 employees globally. The company’s workforce currently exceeds 100,000 individuals across more than 90 countries.
