Gujarat, INDIA: Around 12:30 PM, a trainee pilot was killed when a trainer aircraft belonging to Vision Flying Training Institute crashed in a residential area of Amreli district, Gujarat. The accident occurred near the Giriya Road area, close to Shastri Nagar.

According to police officials, the aircraft had taken off from Amreli airport and was being flown solo by a male trainee pilot. For reasons yet to be determined, the plane lost control mid-air, struck a tree, and crash-landed into an open plot. The impact caused the aircraft to catch fire and become completely engulfed in flames.

Amreli Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Kharat, confirmed that the trainee pilot died on the spot and that no other injuries were reported, despite the crash occurring in a populated residential area. The quick response by four teams from the local fire brigade helped contain the blaze and prevent further destruction.

Fire officer S.C. Gadhvi noted that the aircraft’s initial collision with a tree helped reduce the severity of the crash’s impact. “Though the plane crashed into a residential area, no one else was injured because it first fell on a tree and then crashed into an open plot. The fire was eventually brought under control by our teams,” he said.

The aircraft was operated by a Vision Flying Training Institute that offers pilot training from Amreli airport. Local authorities have begun the process of registering a case of accidental death, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
