Brussels, Belgium: A Swiss International Air Lines passenger flight travelling from London to Zurich was forced to divert and carry out a precautionary emergency landing in Brussels after the crew detected an unusual odor onboard, according to official statements by a spokesperson. The aircraft, carrying 168 passengers and six crew members, landed safely at Brussels Airport, where emergency response teams were placed on standby as per standard aviation safety procedures. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported among those onboard. According to the airline, the odor was traced to the front galley section of the aircraft, prompting the flight crew to initiate a diversion in line with precautionary protocols. While such smells can originate from a range of sources including electrical systems, catering equipment, or ventilation components airlines typically treat any unidentified odor as a potential risk and act conservatively. The flight crew followed established safety procedures, coordinating with air traffic control to reroute the aircraft to Brussels, one of the nearest suitable diversion airports along the route. The landing itself was uneventful, and emergency services, including airport fire brigades, conducted routine post-landing checks. After arrival, passengers were able to disembark normally and were assisted by airline ground staff. Swiss International Air Lines arranged hotel accommodations and rebooking options, ensuring onward travel to their final destinations. No immediate indication of a serious technical fault or hazardous condition has been reported. The incident is being treated as a precautionary diversion rather than a full-scale emergency, a classification commonly used in situations where crews act early to mitigate potential risks before they escalate.

Manchester, United Kingdom: An EasyJet Airbus A320-200 operating flight U2-3375 from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) to Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) in Spain was forced to divert to Manchester Airport (MAN) on 18 February 2026, shortly after departure, after the flight crew reported a technical issue during the initial climb. The aircraft, registered G-EZPE, had just departed Liverpool and was climbing through approximately 4,000 feet when the pilots detected vibrations in the left-hand engine (engine No. 1). According to aviation tracking and incident reports, the crew halted the climb and entered a holding pattern while assessing the situation before electing to divert to Manchester for a precautionary landing. The crew declared an emergency in accordance with standard aviation procedures. The Airbus A320 landed safely on runway 05R at Manchester approximately 40 minutes after departure, where airport emergency services met the aircraft as a precaution. Passengers and crew disembarked without reported injuries. A replacement aircraft, also an A320, registered G-EZPD later transported the passengers to Fuerteventura with a delay of about 3 hours and 45 minutes. Following the diversion, the original aircraft remained on the ground at Manchester for around 25.5 hours before being repositioned to Liverpool, where it was still located several hours later. EasyJet has not issued a detailed statement at the time of reporting, but the airline’s operational procedures require precautionary diversions when crew detect abnormalities in aircraft systems, particularly engine performance, to ensure the safety of passengers and flight crew

Kochi, India: An Air India Express flight operating from Jeddah to Kozhikode made an emergency landing at Kochi’s Cochin International Airport on Thursday after a suspected landing gear tyre failure was detected mid-flight, airport and airline officials confirmed. The Boeing 737 aircraft was diverted to Kochi as a precaution after the flight crew received an alert indicating a technical issue related to the landing gear. Emergency response protocols were immediately activated at the airport, and the aircraft landed safely without incident. All passengers and crew disembarked safely, with no injuries reported. Airport authorities said fire and rescue services were deployed along the runway as part of standard safety measures. Post-landing inspections confirmed damage to one of the aircraft’s tyres, following which the aircraft was grounded for detailed technical checks. Air India Express said passenger safety remained its top priority and that alternative arrangements were made to transport passengers to Kozhikode. Some passengers were accommodated on subsequent flights, while others were transported by road. Operations at Kochi airport continued normally after a brief precautionary disruption. The airline has initiated a comprehensive technical assessment of the aircraft in accordance with regulatory requirements. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expected to review the incident as part of routine oversight procedures applicable to technical diversions.
