New Market, United States: Two people were killed after a small twin-engine aircraft crashed into a field in New Market, Jefferson County, on Monday afternoon, prompting a joint investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). According to authorities, the Beechcraft 58 aircraft went down near Burchell Road at approximately 1:10 p.m. local time on Monday, April 13, while operating in East Tennessee airspace. Emergency services were alerted shortly after the crash and arrived to find the aircraft wreckage in a rural field, with a post-impact fire reported at the scene. Officials confirmed that both occupants on board died on impact. No injuries were reported on the ground. The New Market Volunteer Fire Department, along with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and emergency management teams, responded within minutes. Fire crews reported a burn area surrounding the wreckage, estimated at roughly 30 yards in diameter, following the impact. Witnesses in the area described hearing a loud explosion followed by heavy smoke rising from behind wooded terrain, with residents assisting first responders in locating the crash site. The FAA confirmed the aircraft type as a Beechcraft 58 and stated that only two individuals were aboard at the time of the accident. The NTSB has taken the lead in the investigation, with officials arriving at the scene to document wreckage before transporting it for detailed examination. Investigators will focus on multiple aspects, including flight path data, aircraft maintenance history, pilot records, air traffic control communications, and weather conditions at the time of the crash. The aircraft, identified as a Diamond DA-series trainer operated by the St. Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation, disappeared from radar around 10:40 a.m. local time before crashing near the settlement of Dzhanatalap. Preliminary information from local officials indicates that two university students and an instructor were on board the aircraft at the time of the incident. All three occupants died on impact.
