Dubai: With over 5.2 million passengers anticipated to travel through its terminals between December 13 and December 31, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is getting ready for an exceptional winter season. Nearly 1 million passengers will pass through Dubai between December 20 and December 22, which will result in a high demand for airport services.

  1. Total Passengers (Dec 13–31): Over 5.2 million
  2. Peak Period: December 20–22
  3. Busiest Day: December 20, with around 296,000 passengers

This influx includes 1.7 million arrivals, reflecting Dubai’s magnetic appeal as a global tourist destination, and 1.5 million departures, emphasizing its role as a vital international hub.

Emirates Airlines has identified its busiest travel dates as December 12–15, 20–22, and 27–29, with some days seeing over 89,000 passengers departing. To ensure smoother journeys, Emirates is urging travelers to arrive early and make use of their advanced check-in options.

DXB has introduced several measures to handle the surge in passengers and provide a stress-free experience:

Check-In Made Easy

Early Check-In: Passengers can check in and drop off their bags at the Ajman Central Bus Terminal or Emirates City Check-In in the DIFC up to 24 hours before departure, up to four hours prior to departure.

Home Check-In: Emirates offers a DUBZ service for residents of Dubai and Sharjah, where passengers can check in from the comfort of their homes.

For other airlines, arriving at least three hours before departure is highly recommended.

Convenient Metro Access

The Dubai Metro provides quick access to Terminals 1 and 3, making it a viable alternative to driving.

Faster Security and Passport Control

Power banks: Not permitted in checked baggage; only permitted in hand luggage.

Smart bags: Allowed in the cabin if the battery is removable and the bag is powered off.

Ecigarettes/vaporizers: must be carried in hand luggage and protected against accidental activation.

Smart Gates: These expedite passport control for families and travelers aged 12 and above, making transit smoother for larger groups.

In an effort to reduce holiday stress, DXB has opened a new lounge with a stress-relieving area that provides passengers with a tranquil haven amidst the busy terminals.

Passengers can check in luggage for free up to 24 hours before departure (12 hours prior for flights to the United States)
