Realising the runway was not clear, Air Traffic Control (ATC) immediately instructed the Air India crew to reject the take-off. The pilots carried out a rejected take-off (RTO), bringing the aircraft safely to a halt before reaching the Air India Express aircraft. The prompt response by both the cockpit crew and ATC prevented what could have become one of the most serious runway incidents at India's busiest airport. No passengers or crew members were injured in the incident, and neither aircraft sustained any reported damage. Airport operations continued after the aircraft were safely separated. While authorities have not officially disclosed the flight numbers involved, reports indicate that the departing aircraft was an Air India service from Mumbai to Delhi, while the other aircraft belonged to Air India Express and had just completed its landing at Mumbai. New Delhi, India: India's civil aviation regulator has granted Type Certification to multiple aircraft from Embraer's E-Jets family, marking a significant regulatory milestone that clears the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer to expand its commercial presence in one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets. Embraer announced on July 7 that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has awarded Type Certification to the E190, E195 and next-generation E195-E2. The certification complements the E175, which had already received DGCA approval earlier and is currently operated in India by regional carrier Star Air. With the latest approvals, Embraer's entire first-generation E-Jets lineup, along with the E195-E2, is now certified for operations in the country. A Type Certificate is a mandatory regulatory approval under Rule 50 of the Aircraft Rules, 1937, confirming that an aircraft's design complies with India's applicable airworthiness and safety standards. Without this certification, an aircraft type cannot be commercially operated or sold to airlines in India. The approval follows DGCA's technical assessment of the aircraft and validates their overall design, systems and operational safety. The certification is expected to strengthen Embraer's position as Indian airlines continue evaluating aircraft suited for regional connectivity and thinner domestic routes. The company said the approval enables it to actively market the aircraft to Indian operators while supporting the country's growing demand for right-sized jets between turboprops and larger narrowbody aircraft. Embraer Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Head of Asia Pacific Commercial Aviation Raul Villaron welcomed the approval, thanking the DGCA for its assessment. He said the E-Jets' operating economics, performance and passenger comfort would help reshape regional aviation in India while supporting the Government of India's UDAN regional connectivity programme. According to Embraer, the E-Jets family is designed to bridge the gap between turboprop aircraft and larger single-aisle jets. The aircraft can operate routes that are either too small to justify an Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 or too long for turboprops, allowing airlines to improve network connectivity while maintaining profitability. Regional Vice President of Sales Adity Shekhar said the latest certifications will enable airlines to expand networks and open "blue ocean" routes that were previously commercially difficult to serve. The manufacturer highlighted several operational advantages of the aircraft. The E-Jets can fly sectors of up to seven hours, allowing airlines to connect longer regional and short-haul international destinations. They are also capable of operating from airports with short runways or lower pavement strength, making them suitable for underserved airports across India. Among the newly certified aircraft, the E195-E2 is the flagship model. Embraer describes it as the world's quietest and most fuel-efficient small narrowbody aircraft, offering substantially lower fuel burn and operating costs than previous-generation regional jets while providing improved passenger comfort. These characteristics are expected to appeal to airlines seeking to reduce operating costs while expanding regional capacity. Embraer's global E-Jets programme has established a significant presence since entering service. The manufacturer has delivered more than 1,900 E-Jets worldwide, with the family currently operated by over 80 airlines across more than 50 countries. The aircraft have accumulated millions of flight hours and are widely used on regional and short-haul networks across North America, Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. India already represents an important market for the Brazilian manufacturer. Nearly 50 Embraer aircraft across 11 different models are currently operating in the country across commercial, business and defence aviation. Star Air remains the only Indian airline operating Embraer commercial jets, with a fleet of 11 E175 and ERJ145 aircraft serving regional destinations. The certification also comes amid Embraer's broader manufacturing ambitions in India. Earlier this year, the company expanded its Memorandum of Understanding with Adani Defence & Aerospace to establish a Final Assembly Line (FAL) for the E175 regional jet in India under the country's Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) programme. The initiative is intended to develop a domestic aerospace manufacturing ecosystem through phased localisation while supporting India's long-term aviation growth strategy.

Cologne, Germany: The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has instructed airlines and other aircraft operators to continue avoiding the airspace of Iran, Iraq and Lebanon until August 31, 2026, citing an unstable security situation in the Middle East despite the recent ceasefire between the United States and Iran. The updated Conflict Zone Information Bulletins (CZIBs), issued on July 8, replace EASA's broader regional advisory with separate country-specific bulletins for Iran, Iraq and Lebanon. The agency said the decision was taken following a fresh assessment conducted jointly with the European Commission and EU member states after recent developments in the region. According to EASA, operators "should not operate within the affected airspace" because the security environment remains highly volatile and the risk to civil aviation continues to be significant. he agency warned that although active hostilities have eased, the ceasefire remains fragile and the possibility of renewed military action cannot be ruled out.T The latest advisory comes after weeks of heightened tensions following U.S. military strikes on Iranian targets and subsequent Iranian retaliatory attacks against U.S. military facilities in the Gulf region. While a ceasefire framework has reduced immediate hostilities, EASA believes the security situation remains unpredictable, with the potential for rapid escalation that could directly affect civilian aircraft operating over the region. EASA said there remains "a risk of renewed military action" and warned that any sudden deterioration in the security environment could pose an immediate threat to civil aviation, particularly in Iranian airspace. The agency also noted that military activities and the possibility of misidentification or unintended engagement continue to present serious hazards for commercial flights. Unlike its previous Middle East conflict-zone bulletin, which also advised airlines to exercise caution over Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the revised guidance withdraws those broader regional recommendations for now. Instead, EASA has issued dedicated active advisories only for Iran, Iraq and Lebanon, reflecting its latest operational risk assessment. The three new Conflict Zone Information Bulletins will remain in force until August 31, 2026, unless reviewed or amended earlier if the security situation changes. The advisory is expected to keep many international airlines on longer rerouted flight paths between Europe and Asia, increasing flight times, fuel consumption and operating costs while avoiding one of the region's most important overflight corridors. Many airlines had already been avoiding Iranian and Iraqi airspace since the outbreak of the regional conflict earlier this year. Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan: A TezJet McDonnell Douglas MD-83 carrying 181 people suffered a dramatic landing gear collapse during its takeoff roll at Manas International Airport in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Tuesday, July 7, forcing an emergency evacuation and temporarily shutting down the country's busiest airport. All passengers and crew escaped safely, with no fatalities or serious injuries reported, although several occupants sustained minor cuts, bruises and abrasions while evacuating via emergency slides. The aircraft was operating scheduled domestic flight K9117 from Bishkek to Osh when its left main landing gear collapsed while accelerating for departure on Runway 26. According to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), the Boeing 737 freighter was operating a scheduled cargo service from Sharjah to Karachi when the crew reported a navigational system issue at 9:18 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time (PST). Air traffic controllers at the Karachi Area Control Centre (ACC) immediately began assisting the flight. In an official statement, the PAA said, "K2 Airways B737 of Pakistan Cargo Flight en route from Sharjah to Karachi at time 2118 PST reported a navigational system issue and was promptly guided by Karachi ACC." However, only three minutes later, the situation deteriorated rapidly. The authority said that at 9:21 p.m. PST, radar displayed the aircraft making a rapid descent along with a sharp change in heading before both radar and radio contact were lost. The aircraft's last known position was approximately 155 nautical miles (287 km/178 miles) west of Karachi over the Arabian Sea. The PAA stated, "However, at 2121 PST, aircraft were observed on radar rapidly descending and with rapid heading change, subsequently radar contact and communication was lost approximately 155 nautical miles west of Karachi." The missing aircraft was a Boeing 737 cargo aircraft operated by Karachi-based K2 Airways, a Pakistani cargo airline that commenced operations in late 2024. Early flight-tracking data reviewed by Flightradar24 showed the aircraft experiencing a series of abrupt altitude changes before entering a steep final descent. While those data have led to speculation that the aircraft may have crashed into the sea southwest of Karachi, Pakistani authorities have not officially confirmed a crash. Authorities have confirmed that five crew members were on board. No passengers were being carried. K2 Airways has identified the five crew members on board as Pilot-in-Command Mohammad Rizwan Idrees, First Officer Faisal Mehmood, Load Master Muhammad Toufique Khan, and Engineers Arif Siddiqui and Mohammad Hamid. No wreckage, emergency locator beacon signals, debris, or survivors have been officially located, and the cause of the aircraft's disappearance remains unknown. K2 Airways said it is fully cooperating with investigators and government agencies. In a statement shared by the airline, it said, "We continue to pray, earnestly, for the safety of our colleagues."
