Brazil: A horrific plane crash in Gramado, a renowned tourist destination in southern Brazil, has claimed the lives of ten individuals, all from the same family. The disaster happened on December 22, 2024, shortly after the twin-engine Piper PA-42-1000 took off from Canela Airport to Jundiaí

The aircraft, piloted by Luiz Claudio Galeazzi, the plane’s owner and businessman, encountered unfavorable weather conditions such as fog and gloomy sky. The plane impacted a building’s chimney, collided with a residence, and then crashed into a furniture shop, sparking a fire and dispersing debris. All passengers, including Galeazzi, Bruno Cardoso Munhoz Guimarães – Director of Galeazzi & Associados and his family members, tragically perished in the accident.

Two of the at least 17 persons who were hurt on the ground suffered significant injuries, while several more received treatment for smoke inhalation.

Emergency services hurried to the scene, and the Brazilian Air Force’s – Aeronautical Accidents Inquiry and Prevention Center (CENIPA) launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Galeazzi’s company Galeazzi & Associados published a tribute on LinkedIn, “Luiz Galeazzi will be forever remembered for his dedication to his family and for his remarkable career as a leader of Galeazzi & Associados”
