India: “One cabin bag” rule – The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has suggested new limitations on hand bags on flights, a substantial change aimed at streamlining air travel while improving security.
Key Highlights of the New Regulations:
Single Hand Baggage Allowance: Passengers are permitted to carry only one piece of hand baggage on board, applicable to both domestic and international flights.
Weight Limits:
Economy and Premium Economy Classes: Maximum of 7 kg.
Business and First Classes: Maximum of 10 kg.
Size Restrictions: Hand baggage dimensions must not exceed 55 cm (height) x 40 cm (length) x 20 cm (width).
Mandatory Check-In for Additional Baggage: Any baggage exceeding the specified limits must be checked in before boarding.
Exemptions:
Passengers who booked their tickets before May 4, 2024, are exempt from these new regulations and can carry:
Economy Class: Up to 8 kg.
Premium Economy Class: Up to 10 kg.
First or Business Class: Up to 12 kg.
