Pune, India: On Wednesday morning, a two-seater training aircraft belonging to Redbird Aviation crash-landed near Gojubavi village adjacent to Baramati Airport during a training sortie. Preliminary reports said the aircraft went down shortly after takeoff at around 8:30–8:50 AM local time. According to Pune Rural Police and airport officials, only a trainee pilot was onboard the aircraft at the time of the crash. The pilot survived the accident without serious injuries. Authorities said the aircraft was flying at a relatively low altitude when it reportedly developed a technical malfunction. Eyewitnesses told investigators that while attempting an emergency landing, part of the aircraft struck a light pole before crashing into an open field near the airport perimeter. Baramati Airport Director Shivaji Taware confirmed that the aircraft belonged to Redbird Aviation Academy and said the exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined. Police teams and local officials rushed to the site immediately after the incident, while technical assessments of the wreckage and a formal investigation are now underway. The crash comes less than four months after the devastating Learjet 45XR accident on January 28, 2026, involving a VSR Ventures charter aircraft carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The aircraft, registered VT-SSK, crashed during an attempted landing at Baramati Airport amid poor visibility and heavy fog conditions. All five people onboard including Ajit Pawar, his personal security officer, two pilots and a flight attendant were killed in the crash. Adelaide, Australia: A trainee pilot from Adelaide Aviation flight school walked away uninjured after the light aircraft he was flying crashed and burst into flames at Parafield Airport in Adelaide’s northern suburbs on Monday afternoon, authorities and eyewitness accounts confirmed. The sole occupant of the aircraft was identified as a 21-year-old student pilot Youngin Kim, who walked away uninjured. The single-engine aircraft reported to be a Cessna 172 experienced a heavy landing during a solo training circuit at about 12:30 pm local time before erupting into flames and sending thick black smoke across the airport grounds. Emergency crews from Parafield Airport and South Australia Police responded within minutes, containing the fire that had also spread to nearby grassland. No other aircraft were involved, and there were no injuries apart from damage to the aircraft. A spokesperson for Adelaide Aviation said the trainee was “very lucky” to walk away unscathed. Sherman Anthoney, representing the flight school based at Parafield Airport, told the media the incident was an extremely rare and sobering reminder of the hazards that can occur even in routine flight training environments. Parafield Airport operators confirmed that runway 21L remained closed temporarily following the incident, but the airport’s remaining runways continued to support general aviation traffic. Manitoba, Canada: Four people are dead and a young pilot is seriously injured after a float plane crashed in a remote area roughly 40 kilometres south of St. Theresa Point First Nation, Manitoba, on Saturday evening. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said the single-engine de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver went down near Makepeace Lake while carrying five people. All four passengers, two men aged 53 and 49 and two women who both were 50 were residents of St. Theresa Point First Nation and died at the scene. The 20-year-old pilot, the sole survivor, sustained serious injuries but is expected to recover. Authorities confirmed he was airlifted to hospital after being located by rescue teams in difficult nighttime conditions. The crash site was located after RCMP received an alert from an iPhone satellite crash-detection system. Due to the fly-in nature of the community, officers chartered a helicopter to reach the scene. The lone RCMP officer was dropped about 500 metres away because of darkness and rough terrain and had to hike to the wreckage. Search and rescue technicians from CFB Trenton were parachuted in to assist, providing medical support and helping stabilize the survivor until evacuation was possible. “This was an extremely challenging operation because of the remote location, darkness, and limited access,” RCMP spokespersons said in a statement, adding that the collaboration between emergency services was critical in saving the pilot’s life.
