Ohio, United States: Two people were killed after a small single-engine aircraft crashed into a residential home in Akron, Ohio, on Thursday afternoon, triggering a massive fire and prompting a federal investigation into the cause of the accident. Authorities confirmed that the victims were the two occupants onboard the aircraft, while a family of four inside the house escaped safely without injuries. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft involved was a Piper PA-28 Cherokee, identified in several reports as a 1963 Piper Cherokee. The aircraft crashed into a home on Canterbury Circle at approximately 3:45 p.m. local time after departing from Akron Fulton Regional Airport, located only a few miles from the crash site. The identities of the two deceased occupants had not been officially released as of the latest updates. Authorities also have not disclosed whether the flight was private, instructional, or recreational. The Akron Fire Department said a couple and their two children were inside the residence when the aircraft slammed into the garage area of the house. All four managed to escape unharmed before flames engulfed parts of the structure. Akron Fire Department District Chief Sierjie Lash confirmed during a press briefing that no one on the ground suffered injuries. “There were a couple and two children that lived there. They were all four home, and they were able to get out with no injuries, so we're very fortunate that they are safe,” Lash said. Emergency responders initially treated the incident as a residential structure fire after receiving multiple calls reporting explosions, heavy smoke and flames. “We got a call that residents saw a plane going down into the house,” Lash said. “We got more calls that people heard explosions.” Residents in the neighborhood described hearing a loud whining sound moments before the impact. Neighbor Christi Gould said power briefly flickered before the crash. “We were sitting there, the power flickered for a few seconds, and then I heard the whining of a plane,” she said, adding that a loud explosion shook nearby homes seconds later. Another resident, Jewell Ulrich, described seeing the aircraft debris scattered between homes after the crash. “That fire was instant,” Ulrich said. “It was so hot.” Her husband, Steve Ulrich, said the aircraft’s tail section remained lodged near the garage area after the impact. Videos circulating on social media showed thick black smoke rising above the suburban neighborhood while flames consumed parts of the residence. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation into the crash. The NTSB will lead the investigation and is expected to release a preliminary report in the coming days. As of now, officials have not confirmed the cause of the accident. No distress call, mechanical failure, weather issue or pilot-related factor has yet been officially identified. Authorities also evacuated at least one neighboring home as a precaution while investigators assessed structural damage to the impacted residence.

Ruidoso, United States: A medical transport aircraft operating in New Mexico crashed in rugged mountainous terrain near Ruidoso early Thursday morning, killing all four people on board and igniting a wildfire in the surrounding forest, according to local authorities and federal aviation officials. The aircraft, operated by Trans Aero MedEvac, a Beechcraft King Air 90 departed from Roswell Air Center and was en route to Sierra Blanca Regional Airport when communication and radar contact were lost shortly before dawn. Officials later received reports of both a missing aircraft and a fire burning in the Capitan Mountains near Ruidoso, prompting an extensive emergency response. Authorities said the aircraft failed to arrive at its scheduled destination, leading emergency protocols to be activated. Search teams located the wreckage between approximately 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. local time in steep, rocky terrain that responders described as difficult to access. Rescue crews reportedly had to hike nearly half a mile through mountainous conditions to reach the crash site. All four occupants were killed in the crash. Officials confirmed the victims were members of the flight crew and medical personnel involved in the transport mission. As of the latest official updates, authorities had not publicly identified the victims pending notification of their families. No patients were reported to be onboard the aircraft at the time of the accident. Lincoln County Sheriff Michael Wood described the incident as “a devastating loss,” while county officials urged the public to avoid the area to allow investigators and emergency crews to continue operations safely. Lincoln County Manager Jason Burns confirmed that the crash also triggered a wildfire that rapidly spread in dry and windy conditions. Officials said the blaze expanded to between 30 and 35 acres by midday Thursday, prompting concerns about further fire growth in the heavily forested region surrounding Lincoln National Forest. Local agencies and the U.S. Forest Service continued suppression efforts throughout the day. Speaking during a news conference, Burns said, “our hearts and prayers go out to the families, loved ones, friends and colleagues of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident.” The exact cause of the crash remains unknown. Officials have not indicated any evidence of mechanical failure, weather-related causes, or pilot error at this stage of the investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched a formal investigation, with the NTSB expected to lead the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Prior to Thursday’s crash, there were 25 fatal crashes of medical planes over the past 25 years that killed nearly 70 people, according to NTSB records. According to the operator, the aircraft had been conducting a medical transportation mission when it was reported overdue after communications and radar contact were lost. Trans Aero MedEvac stated that the company has served southeastern New Mexico and west Texas since 1966 and asked the public to keep the families of the crew members and responding personnel in their thoughts and prayers.

Adelaide, Australia: A fatal light aircraft crash at Parafield Airport on April 29 has left two people onboard dead and at least 11 individuals injured on the ground after the aircraft struck a hangar during a landing attempt and erupted into flames. The incident triggered a major emergency response, with authorities launching an investigation into the cause of the crash. Further details have emerged following the fatal light aircraft crash at Parafield Airport, with investigators and authorities providing new insights into the sequence of events, victims, and aircraft operation. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) confirmed the aircraft involved was a Diamond DA42 Twin Star conducting a training flight at the time of the accident. The flight was engaged in circuit training, a standard procedure involving repeated take-offs and landings. According to investigators, the aircraft had completed multiple circuits before the crash occurred during the approach phase. Authorities confirmed that two occupants were onboard a student pilot and a flight instructor and both were killed. Reports indicate the student pilot was a Japanese national, while the instructor was an Australian national, Police further confirmed the victims were men aged 24 and 29 respectively.
